A Real Dilemma

      A Real Dilemma

We met again just outside of town.

At a small café that we had found.

We tried again to work it out.

We both knew what it was about.

I know it looks like we don’t belong.

Yet we still go on and on.

There are differences to work out.

That seems to be what it’s all about.

Round and around and around we go.

We seem to be actors in a show.

We know where this plot is headed.

Even though we haven’t read it.

Try as we might, this circle won’t break.

We just don’t have what it takes.

You always say for me not to go.

Alone at night, I feel really low.

I need you there to keep me warm.

Yet, I don’t want to face the storm.

I always thought that it was me.

Who needed saving for eternity.

But, it seems that we both are lost.

Will we go on at any cost?

Round and around and around we go.

We seem to be actors in a show.

We know where this plot is headed.

Even though we haven’t read it.

Try as we might, this circle won’t break.

We just don’t have what it takes.

You’re a part of me I can’t give up.

I must keep drinking from the cup.

The taste is sweet, but later it’s  bitter.

Yet,—- I feel there is a fit here.

You feel the same about it too.

Yet, we don’t know what to do?

Neither will stop doing what we do.

There will never be another you.————-R. W. Johnson—–(2014)
