Turned Around By God
I heard a rustling in the dirty alley.
Then I heard a desperate groan.
I decided to look, knowing this was folly.
The Lord impressed me to check out the moan.
There in the filth, urine, and waste
lye a long haired ‘hippy type’ in tattered clothes.
He smelled strong of alcohol & body waste.
The smell of a hash pipe hit my nose.
I knelt down and he looked around.
His pupils were pin point, though in the shade.
I knew more than alcohol & mj. could be found.
He smelled like hammered pig poop in a glade.
You look like life has kicked you around some.
You look about as low as you can go.
You look like you’re ready for the ground, son.
You don’t see anywhere else to go.
Let me say there is a new man in town.
He has the power to set you free.
Just sit up and look around.
This is not the life for you or me.
His name is Jesus and He is your friend.
You say what would He want with you?
There are many others who are where you’ve been.
Through you, Jesus can set them free too.
Let me help you to go where there is help.
Later, after a bath , shave, haircut, & clothes.
The young man looked like a fine young whelp
He thanked me and as he rose
I said dinner is very soon. Stay and have a bite.
He did & he ate like there was no tomorrow.
We prayed over the meal & he didn’t feel right.
I said Jesus can take away all pain and sorrow.
He wanted to know how that could be?
During a Bible study, I learned he was Carl.
Many answers were given to him, you see.
Soon, he was moved by the Holy Spirit.
He realized he really could be free.
He gave his heart to God. Let’s hear it.
Praise the Lord!! He now had a job to do.
He went back to the alleys & byways of the city.
He preached to others. He was like them too.
Now he was free. No more sorrow or pity.
By the power of Christ, he converted many.
His joy in life was seeing others saved.
Believe me, his reward will be plenty.
His greatest love was Jesus, he raved.
