I sat down to write my girl a letter.
I had to get to know her better.
Sweet nothings & commitment so sublime.
The real message was between the lines.
Just a simple love poem at first glance.
I was afraid to take a chance.
I felt safer between the lines .
If I want to tell her what’s on my mind.
As the poem flowed along,
I felt like I was writing a song.
I let her know that she was mine.

She would have to read between the lines.
I wrote it smooth with little to lose.
A simple love poem from me to you.
Hidden there between every line.
Was the devotion I knew was mine.
I mentioned things we have done.
The games we played that you usually won.
How being with you was really fine.
But, if you could only see between the lines.
Now that I was nearly done.
I decided it was a lot of fun.
Then another thought crossed my mind.
What if you can read between the lines?
Between the lines.

For her to know what was on my mind.
