Frozen Death
Something ‘bad’ in the land down under.
No, not Australia—-what a blunder.
I mean Antarctica, the frozen land.
Something found buried in the sand.
Under many tons of ice and snow.
A deep boring drill brought it in tow.
It was frozen in a core sample.
An ancient virus buried in the mantle.
At first they didn’t realize what it was.
Till a sled dog keeled over covered in fuzz.
Quickly, the other dogs dropped dead.
Defensive measures saved their heads.
They knew it had to be a core sample.
Drilling so deep, the cores were ample.
All were quickly isolated & taken back.
Put in isolation. It was a fact.
Each sample was put under the electron
microscope to see what’s going on?
The virus was quickly seen.
From the deepest sample taken at the scene.
The bore hole had been tightly sealed.
Everything was cleaned off the field.
Did it only affect dogs and how?
That was the question. How about humans now?
After a few weeks they found.
When warmed up, it could get around.
Travel in the air then breathed in.
It would work as rapidly as a Mickey Finn.
They knew it was one of the deadliest around.
They will dread the day it was found.
One day a lab worker dropped a test tube.
All were dead in minutes. It was pretty crude.
Outside isolation, all were scared out of their wits.
What will we do about all this?
Then someone said freeze the room solid.
Keep it that way, if they allow it.
What about the bodies in there?
Contaminated. Not going anywhere.
So, it still remains like this to this day.
It just can’t be any other way.
Are we safe from this deadly virus?
If things warm up it will retire us.
