The Wood Chopper (Part one)

Things were well till I heard the bell.

They ring the bell when things are not well.

Everyone gathered in the town square.

It looked like everyone was there.

The word was there was a missing child.

She seems to have wandered into the wild.

A group was formed to look for her.

They would find her, to be sure.

After 2 days in the wild woods,

They had no leads, like they should.

Then, they came upon a woodsman’s tracks.

They followed them to his shack.

He was a hermit who stayed to himself.

Sold his wood whenever he felt.

He lived off the land & lived all alone.

He was dirty & skinny as a bone.

But, he swing a wicked axe.

All his wood was around in stacks.

They asked him if he’d seen the girl.

His answer was slow coming to tell.

He made them all very suspicious.

He offered them stew. It was delicious.

They decided to keep an eye on him.

This is where the story begins.
