Racing Home To You

           Racing Home To You

Don’t bother to ring the doorbell.

The key is under the mat, as usual.

I pray that you are doing well.

Go right in & make yourself comfortable.

I’m not there, due to circumstances beyond my control.

I’ll explain all when I’m home as well.

The remote is in its pouch.

Get a cold beer out of the fridge.

Make yourself at home on the couch.

You have been gone a long, long time.

My heart has ached every minute you were away.

Without you here, I’ve been pretty much a grouch.

I am on the road, racing home to you.

Not being there has left me blue.

I want you to know my love has been true.

So, I am racing home to you.

This old truck won’t go fast enough.

It has been so long, I can hardly wait

Life without you has been real rough.

I hope & pray you are really home to stay.

The hurting is almost over for us.

You back in my arms will be enough.

I know when you left, you had to go.

I only prayed that you would return.

Now it’s here & I want you to know.

I would of given anything to be there now.

But, things happen & it just couldn’t be.

I will be there before the sun dips low.

I am on the road racing home to you.

Not being there has left me blue.

I want you to know my love has been true.

So, I am racing home to you.
