Wedding Bells Are Ringing

Wedding Bells Are Ringing.

Wedding bells are ringing.

They sound so clear.

I think they’re singing

wish you were here.

That will not happen.

I am not the man.

Nor am I the Chaplin

or the best man.

It should have been ours.

I did all I could.

But, you liked his car

when no one else would.

Look at the heart.

I win hands down.

Now that we’re apart

there’s a new kid in town.

He doesn’t love you.

To him it’s a game.

You’re just a prized jewel.

His current flame.

No long time commitment.

He won’t go that far.

Pre marital equipment.

He will keep his car.

Why can’t you see

what is happening here?

He will set you free.

I would have kept you near.

The time will come

when he moves on.

Your time will be done.

He’ll have a new fawn.

But, I will be there

to take your hand.

To help you to bear

the grave in the sand.

Buried, will be your love

under the sand castles you built.

I will dig you up for love.

I will nourish you so you won’t wilt.

Then maybe you will see

the real love is one like mine.

A love that is there for thee.

Not just for show but, eternity..—————R. W. Johnson—–(2014)
