Acheron; An Age Before Time
The young explorers were in a cave.
They all agreed, they would be brave.
They accidently discovered the entrance.
Opened by tree roots was the incident.
Roots caused a huge stone to roll away.
They spotted it behind the brush that day.
The cave was extremely ancient for sure.
After a while, something odd did occur.
A section of cave seemed to light up.
Not caused by fungus, or other stuff.
Why it was lit up couldn’t be determined.
That was only a small part that concerned them.
There was a small city in the cavern.
Ancient beyond what they could fathom.
They found ancient symbols around.
They copied all of them they found.
Much later, they would decipher them.
Not even sure they were written by men.
Acheron was the name of the city.
How they vanished was a real pity.
This age was ruled by powerful magic.
The positive and negative results were tragic.
Magic from the dark side and from the light.
They used both for all it’s might.
The end result was total annihilation.
Finding this out caused mild elation.
Many scrolls and books were found.
Years of work translating, they were bound
to expose Acheron’s tragic history.
They understood all the mysteries.
This age existed prior to the Bible Genesis.
Acheron, an age not meant to exist.
So much more the 3 wanted to know.
All was destroyed except this show.
Built underground, it withstood time.
Though any life, they didn’t find.
They kept their discovery to themselves.
They found the books with the magic spells.
They debated trying some, or not.
The results they saw made them stop.
There had to be a way to use it for good.
If they could do this, they would.
The 3 spent years searching for an answer.
It became an obsession, like a cancer.
Finally, they thought they had a plan.
Dark and light must be separated, if they can.
The two forces together destroyed the Acheron age.
Taken separately, they might come into play.
Did they dare to proceed with what they had found?
That is a story for any who might still be around.
They said “We’ll never know unless we try.”
But, then again, they just might die.
