Mind Passages
I feel down. I feel kind of blue.
I’m all alone with nothing to do.
My mind drifts back to a long time ago.
Back when I was young and on the go.
I remember the good times I had
with a certain girl. She was so rad.
She lived just up the street.
All memories of her are oh, so sweet.
I take those mind passages.
Back to a time I will never forget.
Mind passages.
They are memories I will never regret.
I have to go back—–.
To those mind passages.
I know she’s there. I have to get back.
I’ll take the next plane.
Back to where I know she’s at.
I often wonder if she thinks of me.
It’s been a long time. I had to be free.
I think maybe I made a mistake.
I didn’t realize I had my cake.
I thought there was time to kill.
Something better just over the hill.
In the end I realize my error.
My mistake was not to stay there.
I take those mind passages.
Back to a time I will never forget.
Mind passages.
They are memories I will never regret.
I have to go back—–.
To those mind passages.
I know she’s there. I have to get back.
I’ll take the next plane.
Back to where I know she’s at.
I wait and wonder, will she see me?
The plane lands soon, then we will see.
I left saying I would return.
Then waited too long. You’d think I would learn.
When I hit bottom, I knew what I’d lost.
My loss was colder than a winter’s frost.
Hindsight is always better than foresight.
I want her back with all of my might.
I take those mind passages.
Back to a time I will never forget.
Mind passages.
They are memories I will never regret.
I have to go back—–.
To those mind passages.
I know she’s there. I have to get back.
I’ll take the next plane.
Back to where I know she’s at.—————-R. W. Johnson—– (2012)
