The Sea And Me

       The Sea And Me

Walking along by the sea.

This is a dream world to me.

I hear the waves breaking.

All the while, my heart is aching.

I used to walk with another.

Now my life is in the gutter.

She is no longer at my side.

She used to love to watch the tide.

This all brings back memories.

Even the crisp and salty breeze.

Many wonderful days spent here.

Now, it’s blurry through my tears.

I pick up a shell to hear the sea.

It’s her voice, or seems to be.

She is saying she met another.

This is what tore us asunder.

I watch a ship, way out at sea.

It seems to be calling out to me.

Get on board and sail away.

Forget about this terrible day.

But, I know that will not happen.

I head back to my little cabin.

The sea shore isn’t what it used to be.

When it was only you and me.

Given time, I may find another.

In the meantime, I just shudder.

Why is this all happening to me?

Is there somewhere else I’d rather be?

No, the green eyed lady is my friend.

I will keep coming here again.

To get condolence? I don’t know.

It just eases my very sole.

It washes away all that is bitter.

But, it will take time to quit her.

Never feel bad about it all.

Pride always goeth before a fall.
