Under Her Thumb

Under Her Thumb

I saw you and I couldn’t believe it.
She has you walking a tight wire.
Don’t look down, even a little bit.
You will fall into a ring of fire.

She has you up tight and out of sight.
You have a Tampax syndrome big time.
To treat you this way just isn’t right.
She is going to drive you out of your mind.

She runs a tight ship.
She won’t stand for the slightest slip.
She will cut you off short.
If you dare to give her a retort.
Such a life is not for you.
Cut her loose now, you fool!!

You are really towing the line.
Your nose is to the grinding wheel.
What’s up? Have you lost your mind?
You’re in prison. What did you steal?

You spend your time running blind.
You are worse than a rat in a maze.
You’re going in circles. Make up your mind.
Is this any way to spend your days?

She runs a tight ship.
She won’t stand for the slightest slip.
She will cut you off short.
If you dare give her a retort.
Such a life is not for you.
Cut her loose now, you fool!!

What power has she got over you?
Can she do magic? Has she cast a spell?
She’s ugly as a mud fence. That won’t do.
I know you got to be living in hell.

You are a man. Don’t crawl like a worm.
Find a way out and take it now.
Don’t just stay there continuing to squirm.
Walk like a man. Don’t bawl like a cow.

    1. No, it wasn’t written about aunt Glenda. No one in particular. Just something that came to mind. Read The Old Mantle Clock and Captive. Two of my favorites.—–RWJ
