Holiday Inspiration
The homeless man was found under the bridge.
He was frozen, arms around what was his.
He was holding a note. What would it say?
It said: I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving Day.
What would bring a man to write this?
He froze to death. Thanksgiving, he did miss.
Yet,—– he wished the best for others.
It must have been the training of his mother.
After learning his name, I checked on his past.
His life of sacrifice was now in the trash.
It seems his entire life was helping others.
He helped all the children and their mothers.
He volunteered to help in every way.
In every circumstance almost every day.
Yet, he ended up homeless and alone.
Through his last message his kindness shown.
This man was a saint in every way.
When asked about it, what did he say?
“It is always better to give than to receive.”
“I only wish I could fill everyone’s need.”
For such a man there’s a place in heaven.
When he arrives the Lord will say “Kevin.”
“You are an example of all I am.”
“You are an example to every man.”
But, here on earth, he froze to death.
No roof for his head. He had nothing left.
His story made front page news.
He was finally given his dues.
Let his life be an example to all men.
As the Thanksgiving festivities grow dim.
Let’s all be more giving this holiday season.
Just love one another, if no other reason.
