The Wind And I
This is my life and all I have done.
It has been different, but lots of fun.
I have been called successful along the way.
Still, it was a struggle, day after day.
I have been profoundly deaf over half my life.
This has caused some problems and strife.
I overcame my hearing loss early on.
Before the last little bit was finally gone.
I used my many and various other senses.
Sight, touch, smell, and brains, not being defensive.
I compare my life to the wind all around.
Why? Because, of itself, it has no sound.
Till it touches something where it is bound.
Then, all are aware of the wind, I’ve found.
I too, can’t ‘hear’ a recognizable sound.
But, by the people I’ve touched, I’ve found.
They are aware of me like they are the wind.
I try to stick to my principles and seldom bend.
The wind and I have made ourselves known.
By who and what we touch, it has been shown.
