Holiday Inspiration

Holiday Inspiration

The homeless man was found under the bridge.
He was frozen, arms around what was his.
He was holding a note. What would it say?
It said: I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving Day.

What would bring a man to write this?
He froze to death. Thanksgiving, he did miss.
Yet,—– he wished the best for others.
It must have been the training of his mother.

After learning his name, I checked on his past.
His life of sacrifice was now in the trash.
It seems his entire life was helping others.
He helped all the children and their mothers.

He volunteered to help in every way.
In every circumstance almost every day.
Yet, he ended up homeless and alone.
Through his last message his kindness shown.

This man was a saint in every way.
When asked about it, what did he say?
“It is always better to give than to receive.”
“I only wish I could fill everyone’s need.”

For such a man there’s a place in heaven.
When he arrives the Lord will say “Kevin.”
“You are an example of all I am.”
“You are an example to every man.”

But, here on earth, he froze to death.
No roof for his head. He had nothing left.
His story made front page news.
He was finally given his dues.

Let his life be an example to all men.
As the Thanksgiving festivities grow dim.
Let’s all be more giving this holiday season.
Just love one another, if no other reason.

Remember Thanksgiving

Remember Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a special day.
It is fun in every way.
A gathering of family and friends.
How much you eat all depends.
Normally it will be a lot.
The food is yummy. It’s the tops.
You can watch movies or just chat.
Sometimes a game is where it’s at.
Enjoy all the brotherly love.
Give thanks to God above.
Not everyone will have it so good.
Pray for our soldiers, if you would.
Pray for the homeless and others.
Also small children and their mothers.
Remember the pilgrims and their times.
Pray for peace and decrease of crimes.
It is a time to enjoy one another.
Treat them all like your long lost brother.
Pig out, if you so desire.
Then, take steps to be admired.
Help with cleanup and other chores.
Never lay around and say you’re bored.
This is a time to give thanks.
If you are healthy and well, give thanks.
Never bitch and complain.
All other days, you can do the same.
Make Thanksgiving a day to remember.
Then, plan for the next one in December.

Decision Time

Decision Time

Sunrise. What will it bring?
More sad news & everything?
How much longer can it go on?
It will end before too long.

Sonrise. It is time for you.
Time to do the thing you do.
Work your magic & save.
Save all who follow The Way.

The comparison is not close.
One has little. The other the most.
Deception is the way of one.
Truth is the way the other is done.

One is black. The other is white.
One is darkness. The other is light.
One is the way to eternity.
The other can no longer be.

The choice is simple, you see.
Choose the sonrise to be free.
Or, choose the dusk & the dark.
Your end will be as a spark.

You will burn till all is consumed.
Better run. Get on your broom.
Even a witches brew can’t save you.
You will burn till you are threw.

‘Black Friday’ Fanatics

‘Black Friday’ Fanatics

A cold, cold wind was coming out of the North.
It was freezing anyone who would go forth.
Yet, into that ,soon to be, blizzard we would go.
If we would live or not, we did not know.
The rivers were solidly frozen over.
The mountain passes had snow to your shoulder.
We had snowshoes. We prayed it was enough.
To fall into a crevasse would be real tough.
We all hooked together with a rope.
If one of us would fall there was little hope.
We traveled during the meager light.
We buried ourselves in snow caves at night.
We were popsicles by the time we got there.
So cold that we couldn’t feel the air.
But, we managed to arrive in time.
We were the very first in line.
The ‘Black Friday’ sale started in the morning.
Soon, many more showed up without warning.
But, we were first so we could get the best.
I say to hell with all the rest.

The Way It Is

The Way It Is

We were all just young kids.
Trying to find our way as we live.
Some of us went the wrong path.
Led astray while others laugh.
Some of us made our own way.
We survived to this very day.
It wasn’t easy for our lot.
We went to ‘the school of hard knocks.’
That was where we learned most things.
The lessons were felt, but rarely seen.
They made us the men we are today.
Independent and wise in our ways.
Parental guidance was a help.
If not sheltered, like a whelp.
We were allowed to make mistakes.
From this we learned what it takes.
Life is hard. We needed coping skills.
We learned these along with the ills.
We learned to respect the law.
We knew hard work, & that ain’t all.
Respect for others was a plus.
Others would then look out for us.
Do your part, others can’t or won’t.
Be drawn to the do’s, avoid the don’ts.
Be a man. Always tell the truth.
Be kind and courteous. Never uncouth.
Try not to be too judgmental.
Other’s survival was not sentimental.
They are who they are from their past.
Their experiences back then still last.
The results are who they are.
Give thanks that we have come so far.
A lifetime has made me and made you.
Don’t waste it by acting the fool.
Use it all to improve yourself.
Others will be blessed. It will be felt.
Thank your parents and thank God.
You are surviving with their nod.
Now, make them proud of you.
Continue to grow in every venue.
Someone all will look up to.
It’s in the cards for me and you.

Demented Dancer Gets Help

Demented Dancer Gets Help

Dancing with dementia.
Pretend that it is not there.
Look at the fairies dancing.
They are dancing everywhere.
Dance at night in the moon light.
Be provocative in your moves.
Just be glad that it is night.
Dance until they accept you.
It should only be a little longer.
Let them know you are no fool.
You can see them dancing there.
There is a place that dancers go.
You will get there if you try.
You will be the star of the show.
You will be known far and wide.
Dancing with dementia is the way.
There is no other way it’s done.
You might even dance in the day.
Where do we go from here?
You have arrived. This is it.
There is only one more thing to do.
Some ECT should do the trick.

Plain Jane Has Much To Gain

Plain Jane Has Much To Gain

Here we go again today.
You are friendly in every way.
You are sliding right up to me.
Is there something I can’t see?

Why would you be interested in me?
I am as common as can be.
Boys normally look the other way.
Do you think I want to play?

Sorry buddy, I’m not that kind.
I have other things on my mind.
I don’t play those nasty games.
Do you think that I’m insane?

You say no. You’re not after that.
Then, just tell me where it’s at.
What is it you see in me?
I’m no catch, as you can see.

You say to look further down the line.
You say I have a beautiful mind.
I’m smart enough to see the truth.
You are not trying to be uncouth.

You want someone to cuddle to.
Someone who will appreciate you.
Someone who will always be true.
You say I can see that person is you.

You have been snubbed by girls
Despite their beauty and their curls.
You hope I will not be the same.
You don’t care that I am plain.

No, you don’t think I am desperate.
You hope I won’t tell you to rest it.
You say: “I’d like to make it with you.”
I think: ‘I’m the one he’s talking to.’

I must admit,—- I am befuddled.
Just the thought: ‘you want to cuddle.’
This has never happened to me.
I’ll give in a little and we will see.
