The Battle Against The Gods

      The Battle Against The Gods

I could feel something happening near me.

Strange gods drinking from the Well Of Shadows.

I drew Tryfling, (my sword), bringing power to see.

I summoned the ‘rapture of vision’ with a rattle.

All around the Well of Shadows they were.

The strange gods in various manifestations

Bound with dark webs of talic force inferred.

They wanted the impulse clouds, it was indicated.

Impulse clouds in the Well Of Shadows drew them.

They thrived & grew strong from the clouds.

Their ability to manipulate time, space, & dimensions

increased when they could feed, if allowed.

I could not let this happen at any cost.

Only I had the ability to stop them.

We had fought before & I had lost.

But, I learned enough to now, maybe, win.

Strange gods like Death, Wisdom, Cruelty, Mercy,

Loyalty, Stupidity, Justice, Chaos, and War.

Others, who were unknown to me, I could see.

They all needed to be stopped to even the score.

I cut into the webs of talic with Tryfling.

I severed all the webs, leaving them unbound.

I felt nothing. Not even like crying.

The strange gods were alone, looking all around.

The strange gods were unbound now.

They took on their most terrifying aspects.

I sliced the head off the most powerful cow.

Death’s manifestation fell to the ground in ashes.

Dismayed, the rest  fled to different time/space loci.

The sky brightened. Peace came over the land.

I hope to never face them again.——Oh my!!.

Life goes on but, I fear, again they may need my hand.

For The Sake Of Self

      For The Sake Of Self

Things are happening that can’t be explained.

I need some logic to make it more plain.

Everything is melted down &  become one.

One is lonely but, better than none.

Bring the demon into the light.

Check it out.—– Do not fight.

Bring this mess to a screeching end.

The demon has nothing to defend.

Now, my world is rapidly expanding.

All it took was a little understanding.

A deep introspect of how it works.

Casting out all the crazy quirks.

I have learned but, it could come back.

Send this demon on a different track.

Life is good without stupid hang-ups.

My life is now beginning to line up.

Others have their demons too.

They may not know what to do.

Hopefully, they will work it out.

It is all a mess without a doubt.

Every day brings  new situations.

New people with new obligations.

Nightly, I need an introspection.

To make sure it’s the right direction.

To maintain a high functioning mental state

is a goal for me that’s become my fate.

I have to walk the straight and narrow.

Knowing, for the sake of self, be careful.

The Answer Causes Confusion

      The Answer Causes Confusion

I thought I would put my mind to the test.

I would get to the bottom of this mess.

Who thought hula hoops would be fun?

Who dreamed up bubble gum?

What color is indigo blue?

Does Braille on drive thru’s make sense to you?

Why does ice expand when you freeze it?

Why isn’t there more padding in a baseball mitt?

If your cold and you’re feet turn blue,

who cares what color is your tennis shoe?

If movie goers require tickets,

and cricket is played with wickets.

Why do stamp collectors like to lick it?

Talking bears and singing frogs

make about as much sense as a driving hog.

What does all this add up to?

Maybe it means I love you.

I have been unable to think straight

since the day I realized my fate.

It is all still a mystery to me.

How in the world could this happen to be?

You are beautiful beyond belief.

Spending time with you is a real treat.

You are the sweetest thing I know.

You are always the best of show.

Maybe it’s the fact that you love me?

The reason why, I cannot see.

I’ll have to just accept it without doubt.

There is no way to figure it out.

The Legend Of Robin Hood

      The Legend Of Robin Hood

Robin Hood was a sly little fellow.

He would rob from the rich & give to the poor.

His band of ‘merry men’ were pretty mellow.

He became a thief to even the score.

The Sherriff was oppressing the peons.

Taxing them way beyond reason.

King Richard had been gone for eons.

He would be back in due season.

He would not stand for such oppression.

The Sherriff would get his neck stretched.

Meantime, Robin Hood took possession

of all the money the Sherriff had fetched.

Robin had one thing going for him.

It was his skill with a longbow.

He could shoot a bow like Cupid’s twin.

His long shots had never gone low.

The Sherriff wanted Robin’s head.

He couldn’t roust him from Sherwood Forrest.

So, he held a contest, instead.

The best archer would win, of course.

There was a big cash prize offered.

Robin couldn’t resist such a competition.

The money was taken from the tax coffers.

Robin wanted to win to make redemption.

Robin disguised himself as a common beggar.

He registered for the contest. He had a bow.

The contest started and there were wagers.

The final two would shoot a longbow.

It was the Sherriff’s best archer against

the strange beggar, who was very good.

The archer hit dead center & kissed his wench.

The beggar’s arrow split the archer’s wood.

Such a shot, no one had ever seen.

To split another’s arrow at such a distance,

could only mean the beggar wasn’t who he seemed.

He, grabbed the prize & avoided resistance.

All realized it was Robin Hood.

He threw the prize money to the poor.

The Sherriff was doing all he could.

Yet, Robin made it out the door

He got away and the Sherriff looked the fool.

Robin & his men were hero’s of the poor.

The Sherriff planned things that were really cruel.

Before long King Richard returned from the war.

He was informed of the total situation.

The Sherriff was arrested and hung.

Robin was pardoned  with elation.

Maid Marion & Robin became as one.

So ends my prose of Robin Hood.

True or legends, he is still a hero.

One who goes around doing good.

Most people think of him as real.

Mother’s Day

      Mother’s Day

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day again.

Once a year we honor them.

My mother is no longer around.

She stepped into tomorrow, I found.

It is an easier way to look at death.

Thank God,  her memory hasn’t  faded yet.

For all with mothers still alive.

Tomorrow, her special day will arrive.

Treat her to a special meal or outing.

Maybe flowers or candy. No pouting.

Tell her you love her because you do.

Without her, you wouldn’t be you.

Being a mother is a very tough job.

God didn’t want this to be odd.

He made a woman ready to do the job.

It is a job that really reflects God.

Not all mothers are loved by their own.

Often, it is not her fault, it is shown.

The cases where a mother has fallen short,

there are extenuating circumstances to sort.

Most of us love our mothers with good reason.

To say we don’t would fall just short of treason.

Our mothers gave their lives to raise us right.

A mother’s love for their offspring is no respite.

So do your best to make her proud.

Make your love stand out in the crowd.

God would do no less for me & you.

Your mother is special. She loves you too.

In The Time Of Magic

      In The Time Of Magic

I am a time traveler. I travel forward or back.

Anyone can do it, if you have the knack.

You don’t need a special machine to go.

Just a good imagination for the show.

I went back to the mid-evil ages.

Knights, castles, & really poor wages.

But, there was one thing not here today.

It was magic. Powerful magic, I would say.

There was white magic & black magic too.

There were wizards and witches mixing brew.

Some were evil and some were good.

Some would kill you where you stood.

It was scary to hear all the magical talk.

If you talk the talk, you must walk the walk.

If you tried to get a wizard for hire,

he might burn you with wizard’s fire.

They worked for themselves, not for others.

They would probably fry their own mothers.

Those that used white magic were usually witches.

But, they could be a warlock & burn your britches.

What I am trying to say.

Magic is not for play.

Those who used it knew their stuff.

They didn’t share this with others much.

If one takes you under his wing.

You would be an acolyte, or some such thing.

You start at the bottom & work your way up.

Till you knew enough to drink from the cup.

The wizard would train you to his way of thinking.

You would reflect his actions right down to winking.

If you learned enough, you might go on your own.

You would then use all that you had been shown.

They all guard their craft with all their might.

No use ever getting up tight.

If a witch or wizard does things in his own way,

it’s not much different than some people today.

I learned what little I could.

Then, returned home, like I knew I would.

I found right off. Magic doesn’t work today.

I am sure there has got to be a better way.

But, I still have my imagination.

What a way to take a vacation.

Just imagine whatever you want.

And, wham! You’re ready to romp.

GMO’s: Blessing, Or Curse?

      GMO’s: Blessing, Or Curse?

After dinner one night,  I fell asleep.

I had a dream I want to keep.

I dreamed about GMO’s

Food changes to make things grow.

Genetically altered food.

Not really much better than glue.

At first, people just got sick.

Later, deformities were the risk.

There were freaks running everywhere.

A real scary thing,—- I declare.

Little babies, bug eyed, and deformed.

Makes you wish that they weren’t born.

People with tumor type growths

on their bodies were  really gross.

Think of the worst you can imagine.

Then double that and add a cannon.

They look like they were shot from one.

Right into a brick wall , not for fun.

A real mess, I am trying to say.

Not the kind of place to stay.

Those who didn’t die from diabetes,

heart disease, cancer, or intestinal acities

were deformed worse than ever.

Yet, Monsanto was very clever.

People still ate the GMO’s like mad.

Monsanto said the problems were bad.

But, GMO’s were not the cause for sure.

Just ask the government for a cure.

I awoke screaming out loud.

I vowed organic only would be allowed

in our house from that day forward.

I thank God for the dream He ordered

sent to me to save our lives.

Before you eat GMO’s, think twice.

True Blue For Only You

      True Blue For Only You

It happened once. Then, it happened again.

I tried to explain just how I’ve been.

My love was strong & it was real.

You didn’t want to believe my spiel.

I had a history that was not good.

I have never acted like I should.

I went around breaking little girl’s hearts.

Now, I see where that was not smart.

I love this girl so much it hurt.

She had a great fear I would soon flirt.

I had no intention of doing so.

I wanted to be her permanent  beau.

Seems I had cried wolf once too often.

Nothing will help it to soften.

I can’t be trusted to be true blue.

Yet, I can’t stop hurting for you.

How to show I’ve changed my ways?

Though, it may take many days,

I have to prove my love is true.

I only want to belong to you.

You have taken a ‘prove it’ attitude.

I could be in a different latitude.

For all the difference my efforts were making.

You weren’t going for ‘I’m there for the taking.’

Gifts, flowers, and cards don’t help.

I need something to make your heart melt.

Groveling at your feet is a no, no.

I am not putting on a show.

I am serious in all I say & do.

My whole life is devoted to you.

I won’t look in another girl’s direction.

You are all I see in my reflection.

You haven’t cut me off as yet.

Maybe there is a chance to get

inside your heart to stay.

Show you this is the only way.

In the end, what a blessing it will be.

You’ll be so glad you waited for me.

We will live in never ending bliss.

Who would have thought it could be like this.

It Ended In Peace

      It Ended In Peace

He had been a bad man all his life.

That’s why he was on death row.

Today is the last day of the fight

to try to keep his life in tow.

Execution time was approaching fast.

His last meal was being eaten.

Soon, the walk that would be his last

would come. He felt beaten.

“Dead man walking” it was known as.

That  walk to meet his maker.

He didn’t give the guards any sass.

He was quiet. No longer a taker.

The pastor asked if he had any last words.

Then, he saw a person of light.

He was real. It was not absurd.

No other saw him. There was no fight.

The being said “The Lord knows your heart.”

“Are you sorry for all your sins?”

“Do you ask forgiveness This is no lark.”

The man said “Yes, yes. How do I begin?”

“The being said “It is done. You are saved.”

‘Your name is written in the book of life.”

“Though, for your sins on earth, you must pay.”

“Your eternity is assured without any strife.”

The light faded away. He said “I am sorry”

The pastor said “Bless you my son.”

“May you sleep in eternal rest.”

At that the man got a real smile on his face.

As the IV dripped the fluid into his arm,

to put him to sleep. He smiled .

He seemed to truly not be alarmed.

“He has found peace” the pastor said, without denial.

Wolf Sees More In A Man

Wolf Sees More In A Man

He was a kindly, little, old, nature loving man.

He was out in the woods looking for mushrooms. .

He was down on his knees checking out the land.

Wolves caught his sent and found him real soon.

They surrounded him before he was aware.

The pack leader slowly approached the man.

He saw the wolf and could only stare.

The pack leader sniffed, then backed away, turned & ran.

He gave a howl and the other wolves followed.

The man couldn’t believe what just happened.

Thank God, the wolves didn’t want his raw bones.

He gathered the mushrooms in his lap then.

Then, he walked back to where his car remained.

About 2 months later he was back in the woods.

He heard a wolf crying, like it was in pain.

He found a pup, who would run away, if he could.

He couldn’t. His leg was in a trap & was broken.

The man freed the pup and carried him away.

In his car he had a brace. It was a real token.

Just the right size to fix the whelp’s leg today.

He fixed up the pup & returned him to the place.

He thought the pup could get home from there.

He made sure the trap wasn’t set, just in case.

He didn’t realize the wolves were all aware.

They watched everything he had done.

They saw that he had helped the little whelp.

They remembered that he was the one.

The one the pack leader decided to help.

A week later, he was back in the woods.

The wolves surrounded him like before.

He raised his hands up, knowing he should.

The pack leader  approached once more.

He sniffed, then licked the man’s hand.

Then gave a small growl like a meow.

Then, he turned and left the man.

He gave a small yip, then a growl.

All the wolves followed the leader.

He was left scratching his head.

It seemed he had nothing to fear.

It seemed to him that God had led.

It was the pack leader’s pup he helped.

The pack leader sensed this from the first.

He knew this man was not a whelp.

Sure enough, his senses were not a curse.

God gives all animals what they use.

God knew the man would help the pup.

His wisdom gave the wolf all the cues.

This was a man to save, not rip up.
