Make It Last

      Make It Last

I’ve loved hard and I’ve loved fast.

Until the end my love would last.

But, when I fall it’s always hard.

It always leaves me hurting & scarred.

Yet, I’m willing to try again.

If successful, your love I’ll win.

It will be like vitamin E to my scars.

I will take you to the stars.

I won’t think about hurts from the past.

All thought will be to make this love last.

To enjoy your pleasure until the end

is the ultimate, my lover. My friend.

You mean all the world to me.

This could last till eternity.

In a fantasy world we’d never part.

You will always have my heart.

I could travel the universe with you.

Exploring each thing as if it were new.

Remembering each & every word you said.

As we snuggled deep within our bed.

Such exhilaration is only dreamed.

Till your love becomes the extreme.

What I do with you no other will do.

We’ll do things not learned in school.

We will ride the rainbows everywhere.

Searching for gold that isn’t there.

Because the gold we already have.

Our love for each other, and am I glad!!—–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

Zero At Love So Far

      Zero At Love So Far

I don’t know just where to start.

I’ve left a trail of broken hearts.

Only problem, they’ve all been mine.

I get hurt by love every time.

Yet, I’m willing to try again.

Maybe this time I can win.

I have to learn how to play this game.

Or else, it will always be the same.

One more broken heart for sale.

I don’t want to tell that tale.

Round & round I go again.

There has got to be a way to win.

Maybe I should stack the deck.

Pad my hand to win the bet.

Yet, that just doesn’t seem fair.

It leaves honesty up in the air.

Mama always told me right from the start.

Don’t go around breaking little girls hearts.

Seems it never ends up that way.

My heart gets broken every day.

There is someone out there for me.

I must keep searching & try to see

if I can find her before I’m too old.

It’s hard to have faith & be so bold.

My record has been zilch so far.

Maybe I need a fancy car.

Maybe I need a face lift too.

What I really need is you.———————-R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

Secret Agent Man

      Secret Agent Man

I walked through the crowd trying to blend in.

My eyes moved constantly checking where I’ve been.

Was anyone following or watching too closely?

Just weekend shoppers with kids mostly.

A trained eye can spot a gunman easily.

Most aren’t careful enough. They are moving to seize me.

They only have a general description to follow.

I can appear like anyone. The disguise is hollow.

If stopped & questioned they may see through it.

I have got to pad my edge a bit.

They are looking for a single person.

I must join with another. Curse them.

I go into a busy bar and spot a girl alone.

I buy her a drink & make myself at home.

Fortunately, she seems interested in me.

The conversation is proceeding nicely.

One of the goons came in & made the rounds.

He didn’t give me a second look, I found.

After awhile, to the girls dismay.

I excuse myself & head on my way.

The coast seems clear. I am barely able to catch a train.

I have made good my escape without giving my name.

A secret agent man is always under pressure.

I can’t always look suave and be a slick dresser.

People have died by my hand.

All done in the name of my land.

I never kill if it can be avoided.

Sometimes, the situation says destroy it.

Mostly, it’s obtaining information of one type or another.

Information I wouldn’t even tell my mother.

It’s a matter of national security.

It must be stopped to maintain purity.

Maintain our democratic basic freedom.

Yet, someone has to be the one to seize them.

There is no attachments in this job.

It could mean their life. I’m not talking odd.

They will be used as a tool to get me to talk.

So I must talk the talk and walk the walk.

Many a girl I would love to be with forever.

The chances of that is next to never.

You can’t trust anyone but yourself.

Now that’s really hitting below the belt.

Another day, another secret revealed.

That’s how it is when you’re out in the field.

Someday,——- if I survive.

I will quit while still alive.

Then I’ll retire to a small corner of the world.

With my love and we will be dead to the world.

We will live out our lives in peace unsurpassed.

Provided I can leave behind for good my past.

Something Worth Looking Forward to.

   Something Worth Looking Forward To

Life is good when you’re feeling no pain.

You’re not sick, blind, deaf, or lame.

You have energy. You feel great!!

You’re not underweight nor overweight.

Just look around at life in general.

You are blessed way beyond the minimal.

Look at the colors in nature all around.

look at all the pretty flowers that can be found.

Look at nature’s bountiful life everywhere.

Animals abounds in the sea, land & air.

The beautiful ground fauna overflows.

The water in lakes, rivers, & waterfalls.

The beautiful oceans raging & rolling.

The rain that falls to keep things growing.

The forests & trees, the buzzing bees.

All were made for you and me.

By the creator God who made it very good.

He wanted to make it perfect, like He should.

Only one thing prevented it being so.

Sin entered and spoiled the perfect show.

But, in the end, God will make it new again.

This time perfect with no trace of sin.

Made Complete

      Made Complete

On my way to another town.

Nice and quiet. No one around.

Why travel on I’m often asked?

Am I running from my past?

No, I’m not comfortable settling down.

It’s like asking a kid why he likes clowns.

I have a space to fill in my heart.

One that starts yearning when were apart.

I keep coming back time and again.

Never sure if you’ll let me in.

You always do and accept how it is.

You always welcome me with a kiss.

I’ve been thinking more of settling down.

I kind of like this little town.

Lately, I’ve begun to see.

You fill that space in my heart for me.

I have been a rover for years.

Sometimes, I left someone in tears.

Never thought of looking back.

Always following a different track.

But, something different has happened here.

Mostly, it happens when you are near.

You never judge or push an issue.

When I leave you don’t grab a tissue.

You accept me as I am.

To you I am more than a friend.

There is a change going on in me.

Something is coming to light, you see.

I think I have been searching all along.

Looking for someone with whom I can bond.

You complete me in every way.

I think this time I’m gonna stay.—————R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

On The Road Again

      On The Road Again

Moving along the road of life.

I have seen heartache and strife.

Should I march along and try to hide,

Or hold my head  up with dignity and pride?

Deep within beats a heart of gold.

It is corroded and gotten old & cold.

This life doesn’t give back what you give.

In most cases, your heart will leak like a sieve.

The turnabouts and bumpy roads

will jar you into a ‘turnoff’ mode.

There is no super smooth freeway of life.

No matter how good there is always strife.

Follow the road you made where it sends.

With luck, there will be no dead ends.

Make the most of what you’ve got.

Don’t just bury it all to rot.

What you do affects others too.

They all want to be close to you.

Though times are rough, there is always hope.

You must be as stubborn as a billy goat.

Never give in to defeat and depression.

Always try to make a good impression.

Others will start responding the same.

Soon, you will be playing a whole new game.

Give praise to God as the only one.

You’ll be on the road to kingdom come.

Ode To Prostate Biopsies

Ode To Prostate Biopsies

Any day that starts with an enema can’t be good.

I took my antibiotic and did my enema, like I should.

Then, Had my daughter accompany me to the Dr.

A Urologist , who would complete the shocker.

A Prostate Biopsy to make sure all is right.

It could cause nightmares during the night.

The whole procedure only took about 10 minutes.

But, it seemed a whole lot longer, once you’re in it.

“Lie on your left side with knees bent.”

“First a digital exam.” In the Doc’s finger went.

Talk about a ‘goose’. Quite a jolt it sent.

Then the camera went where no man has gone.

It had a BIG end and was mighty long.

Smarted quite a bit going past the sphincter

Once in it was tolerable. I hoped he didn’t tinker.

“Next,” he said, “a shot of Lidocaine  to numb it”

I didn’t feel a thing. I hoped he didn’t shun it.

He took some quick ultra sound pictures.

“Your prostate is enlarged.”— No shit sir!!

“Now, we’ll take some samples . 12 in all.”

“What!! 12!!”—- I felt like climbing the wall.

There was a loud click as the needle jabbed in.

I tried to count, but the Doc was talking then.

They were painful but, tolerable until # 9.

I gave a jerk like I’d lost my mind. Did that one hurt?” , the Doc asked .

“It smarted pretty good,”  I gasped.

“Hold on. Only 3 more to go,” he said.

I thought he was out of his head.

The next 3 hurt somewhat less.

I had made it through.—- What a test!

I was told I could have blood in urine & stool

from 1-2 weeks. Now, that’s not very cool.

Fortunately, it stopped in a day, or two.

The results of the biopsy would take a week or 2.

So, be forewarned if this ever happens to you.

Just relax. It’s all over in 10 minutes. Don’t be blue.

Ride From Hell

      Ride From Hell

I had a dream the other day.

We were in a weird kind of maze.

We were trying our best to get out.

Nobody knew what it was about.

We had to use a sled to move around.

Sliding down passages never to be found.

It was scary with turns and branches.

Just to ride it was taking chances.

We had no idea where we were.

Where it was leading, we were not sure.

What was around the next turn?

Going so fast our butts began to burn.

We screamed with fear as we flew on.

This can’t be real. It must be a con.

We found by leaning we could guide our route.

Left to go left. Right to go right we found out.

Then we hit bumps that bounced us about.

It looked like a clown car that was full of clowns.

We went into a dip & passed through water.

We were all wet and felt like otters.

How do we get out of this crazy maze?

This ride is not fun. I’ve had better days.

Then, up ahead, a brick wall with no way around.

We could turn but, not brake, we found.

With a scream we covered our heads.

Next thing I knew, I woke up next to my bed.

The house was a mess. Stuff scattered all over.

What the hell happened here? I shrugged my shoulders.

Talk about a nightmare. This takes the cake.

It’s enough to make an effort to stay awake.

The rides at 6 Flags are no longer an option.

I don’t need a repeat of this ‘nightmare’. Take caution.

Go Tell It In The Valley

Go Tell It In The Valley

We met in the valley far below.

It was as far as I could go.

I wished to see you once again.

To me you were much more than a friend.

You came to the mountain high above.

You came just to see your love.

Music played & the trees kept time.

Then I knew that you were mine.

From the valley far below

came the one to whom I bestow

all the powers that are mine.

May you stay till the end of time.

I left the mountain only once.

I met you as I ate my lunch.

I was guided to your side

by this power that is deep inside.

You were attracted immediately.

Like I was all that you could see.

We only had a short time together.

It was long enough, it couldn’t get better.

You came to the mountain high above.

You came just to see your love.

Music played and the trees kept time.

Then I knew that you were mine.

From the valley far below

came the one to whom I bestow

all the powers that are mine.

May you stay till the end of time.

The mountain is a place of sacred power.

A place to worship in the early hours.

A mighty gift has been given to me.

I share it with you & set you free.

The two of us become as one.

We strive together till day is done.

We work toward that special day.

When we will go forth, as we pray. ———–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

Wedding Bells Are Ringing

Wedding Bells Are Ringing.

Wedding bells are ringing.

They sound so clear.

I think they’re singing

wish you were here.

That will not happen.

I am not the man.

Nor am I the Chaplin

or the best man.

It should have been ours.

I did all I could.

But, you liked his car

when no one else would.

Look at the heart.

I win hands down.

Now that we’re apart

there’s a new kid in town.

He doesn’t love you.

To him it’s a game.

You’re just a prized jewel.

His current flame.

No long time commitment.

He won’t go that far.

Pre marital equipment.

He will keep his car.

Why can’t you see

what is happening here?

He will set you free.

I would have kept you near.

The time will come

when he moves on.

Your time will be done.

He’ll have a new fawn.

But, I will be there

to take your hand.

To help you to bear

the grave in the sand.

Buried, will be your love

under the sand castles you built.

I will dig you up for love.

I will nourish you so you won’t wilt.

Then maybe you will see

the real love is one like mine.

A love that is there for thee.

Not just for show but, eternity..—————R. W. Johnson—–(2014)
