Fat Cat Nap

                Fat Cat Nap

Early one morning I awoke from sleep.

I had the urge to take a leek.

I dragged out of bed for a bathroom break.

I still was not fully awake.

I was still in a sleepy mood.

But, I felt like I needed some food.

I went to the kitchen to get a bite.

I found some cereal that I like.

The kitchen floor on my feet felt cool.

I still hadn’t put on socks or shoes.

As I sat at the table starting to eat,

I felt something against my feet.

It felt like whiskers, was my guess.

Probably Squally wanting food, no less.

Then I felt something cold and wet.

It was rubbing against my feet yet.

It was probably Squally so I looked down.

It wasn’t a fat cat that I found.

At my feet was a large rat.

I jumped & spilled cereal in my lap.

The rat was gone in nothing flat.

“Squally!!”, where is that fat cat?

I went looking to see where he was at.

He was in the living room asleep in a chair.

He didn’t even know the rat was there.

I let Squally smell my feet.

Hoping he would smell the rat & get to his feet.

He took a sniff of my foot.

Then gave me a dirty look.

Then turned over & went back to sleep.

He could care less about my feet.

Does this happen every time?

I am just playing a game in my mind.———-R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

Punk Skunk (4 poems)

Punk Skunk

Punk Skunk went to town

with his britches upside down.

Punk Skunk let a fart

and blew the sidewalk all apart.

When the police came to see.

Punk Skunk said “It wasn’t me.”

But, they knew that he had lied.

Cause Punk Skunk’s smell

could make you cry, or die.—————–R. W. Johnson—–(1984)

Punk goes to school

One day Punk Skunk went to school.

Just to see how much he knew.

The teacher said it’s time for art.

Punk Skunk thought she said to fart.

Punk Skunk passed an awful smell

that made the children cough & yell.

As the children choked & screamed,

Punk Skunk up & split the scene.

He said “Home is the place for me.

I’m smarter than them. It’s plain to see.”—–R. W. Johnson—–(1984)

Punk Skunk has a date

Punk Skunk called someone for a date.

He was told he better not be late.

When he arrived, she opened the door

&  immediately fell upon the floor.

She coughed & choked & held her nose.

Then sprayed him down with a water hose.

Punk Skunk ran away in tears

& hasn’t had another date in years.———–R. W. Johnson—–(1985)

Punk Skunk’s first job

Punk Skunk got a job one day.

Watching children while they play.

But, when the children came outside.

They coughed & choked & almost died.

They all fell upon the ground

& started spinning round & round.

Punk Skunk didn’t know what to do.

He thought, maybe,  they had the flu.

He thought they could use some air.

So he fanned his tail on everyone there.

But, when they started turning blue

Punk Skunk didn’t know what to do.

So Punk Skunk turned & ran away.

He quit his job that very day.——————R. W. Johnson—–(1985)

“Pookey”

“ Pookey”

Oh, Pookey—you’re the most.

Your hard to find.

Just like a ghost.

You come and go.

just like the wind.

I never know

when you’ll be in.

Can you take me

wherever you go.

So that I’ll always be

part of your show.

From the highest mountains

to the deepest seas.

To life’s bubbling fountains.

Just you and me.

We’ll slide down a rainbow.

We’ll dance in fairy dust.

We’ll have a sparkling  glow

like the sun at dawn or dusk.

We’ll get lost in our magical world.

Riding dragons and having thrills.

Morning will find me curled up

In my bed . But,— where will you be??——-R. W. Johnson—–(2011)

Night Flight

Night Flight

I see her moving through the night.

Not much more than a shadow.

I want to keep her in my  sight.

If my nerves were not so raddled.

Then I see her take to flight.

To believe my eyes is a real battle.

She rides the wind like a kite.

Like a cowboy in the saddle.

I run to meet her as she lands.

I look but, she’s not there.

Then I feel the touch of hands.

She runs them through my hair.

I  jump but, try to be a man.

As I turn, she’s standing there.

She smiles and covers with a fan.

All I can do, with effort,  is stare.

She smells like the air after a rain.

Clean and fresh and alive with life.

She says “No, you’re not insane”

“I am a creature of the night.”

“To me flying is just a game.”

“I put my heart into each flight.”

I stammer and try not to sound lame.

I say “ Your as beautiful as a starlit night.”

She smiles and says” Would you like to join me?”

“I can take you to ride the wind.”

“I say “ Anything, if, with me you’ll be.”

“You cannot go without me to send.”

I hold her hand and soon I feel free.

Flying through the night on the wind.

I cannot describe what there was to see.

I am  wishing she will stay with me then.

She says it is impossible. “I am only here at night”

“Once a month when the moon is full.”

“That is when I make my flight.”

I say “Where are you from  & where do you go?”

She says “I am a creature of the night.”

“The rest is only for me to know.”

She says “It is time for me to take my final flight.”

I yell  “I will be here whenever the moon is full.”

Time Traveler Finds God (Version #2)

Time Traveler Finds God. (version 2)

The sun was setting,  turning the landscape ablaze.

The road across the valley looked golden in the haze.

Bringing with it another night in this future land of horrors.

Can I survive till the next paradoxical shift opens a door?

Traveling into the future is safe from a time paradox.

Getting back,  however, is  becoming a major crock.

It takes a certain alignment of the stars and earth.

This happens quarterly, for what it is worth.

No one had a clue what the future held.

The book of Revelation tried to make the sell.

Through allegorical prophecy, if interpreted right.

Biblical scholars tried with all their might.

But, the horrors were beyond our grasp.

I pray for God to end this horror at last.

If I survive by God’s grace to return to my time.

I will spread the word before we run out of time.

REPENT!!, REPENT!! Before it is too late.

I have been to the future and it’s not great.

There is only one way for you to survive.

Give God your heart & soul to stay alive.

You’ll see God and heaven’s host when they arrive.

The wicked will die when God’s glory hits their eyes.

Your name will be found written in the book.

You’ll be heaven bound with no backward look.

The horror of this future you will pass through

will be blotted from your mind. Praise God anew!!

Time travel is not all it’s thought to be.

Being right with God means more to me.—-R. W. Johnson—–(2013)

Time Traveler Finds God

          Time Traveler Finds God

I was moving through time with ease.

Going back in time was such a breeze.

Going forward in time was more difficult.

You couldn’t tell if you would cause a ‘tilt’.

I learned this trick from a shaman.

He said to concentrate & say when.

Think of the date time and place.

Be ready to move with all haste.

Do NOT appear within a wall.

Or any other structure at all.

Make sure it’s clear where you will appear.

Then you can travel without any fear.

My first trip back was short and sweet.

I tripped the bully across the street.

I knew he never saw me coming.

Afterwards, I took off running.

My shaman told me this was not wise.

What would happen if he had died?

I went over the do’s & don’ts & the reasons why

before I gave it one more try.

Soon I was revisiting the good & avoiding the bad.

But, knowing the ending, was kind of sad.

It was like seeing a movie over and over.

Yet, not being able to change things seemed so queer.

Then I said the future is the place for me.

I zipped forward to see what I could see.

First thing I noticed there was no sign of me.

Maybe I died before then. Could that be?

I got scared and returned real fast.

I had finally seen the light at last.

I prayed to God to forgive my sins.

I swore I would never do it again.

That was the end of my time traveling days.

Now my time is filled with praise.

If God had wanted me to time travel,

It would say so in the Bible.

He said there is enough work here and now.

Spread the ‘word’ to others somehow.

You know time is running out.

Being there is what it’s all about.————–R. W. Johnson—–(2013)

Gobekli Tepe Mystery

             Gobekli Tepe Mystery

In Turkey is a ruins called Gobekli Tepe.

“Genesis of the Gods.” Sounds creepy.

They call it that because of what is there.

Pillars with animals on them everywhere.

It has been dated to 12,000 years ago.

1/10th has been unearthed. A lot more to go.

Not all the animals are known they say.

This place is huge, even by standards today.

There is also strange subjects on the pillars.

Written in a language; to interpret is a killer.

This is about all that is publically known

about this place, we’ve been shown.

But, here is the whole story of it.

The story of a man who lost his wit.

Professor Rutt was his name .

Archeology was his game.

He found a chamber filled with round crystals.

Different sizes and different colored crystals.

He found a alter where they would fit.

Fit nicely into a depression on top of it.

He set one down into the depressed slot.

Everything disappeared around the spot.

The alter was there. The rest was gone.

He thought to himself, this was wrong.

He was transported back to dinosaur times.

He saw them everywhere. It blew his mind.

They were communicating with one another.

They seemed intelligent he discovered.

Then he saw that most were smoking.

Coughing & hacking & almost croaking.

It was too much. He was freaking out.

They saw him & he let out a shout.

He grabbed the crystal off the alter.

Instantly, he was back. He didn’t halt there.

He took off running, screaming, and yelling.

He’d lost his mind from this hell thing.

Everyone thought he was totally mad.

His story never came out. It was sad.

They all said Dr Rutt was a nut.

His mind was stuck in the Gobekli Tepe rut.

The truth of this place may never be known.

But, the mysterious rumors have really grown.

The Black Box

          The Black Box

The secret to life and success

was hidden in the black box.

Wait a minute, let me regress.

The scroll was found under a rock.

It all started when I was young.

We were kids, just fooling around.

We were looking for some fun.

In the old ruins outside of town.

That’s when we found the scroll.

We knew it was really old.

We made it our number 1 goal.

To try and break the code.

The scroll was written in code.

It didn’t make any since to us.

We need a key, we were told.

Something to help was a must.

Something like a book or letter.

We had no idea what to use.

Then, years later, it got better.

I thought of The Bible to use.

Matching the numbers  to

chapter & verse worked.

This broke the code, cool.

We could understand this quirk.

The secret to life & success.

Was hidden in a black box.

Not far from where you possessed

the scroll you found under the rock.

There were a few clues.

We looked for them in the old ruins.

We could no longer find the clues.

For years we searched those old ruins.

One day we found one of the clues.

We worked like mad digging for others.

Finally, almost too exhausted to move.

We found the final clue that covered.

Move one more thing and

the box should be there.

“There it is.,” lying in the sand.

It looked like it was all there.

We picked it up with trembling hands.

Blew off the dust and opened it up.

There, before our eyes, lying in sand.

The Holy Bible, with a note sticking up.

It said here is the secret to life & success.

Read this book from cover to cover.

God will do all the rest.

We just stood looking at one another.

We don’t know who set all of this up.

It was done long ago is all we know.

We like to think it was an angel’s cup

overflowing with love for our souls.———-R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

I Became An Angel

I became An Angel

I was driving home late at night.

It was dark. The road was wet & slick.

At an intersection,  bright lights to my right.

Coming fast. They hit me like a brick.

The next thing I remember clearly.

I am in heaven and God is nearby.

There is also several angels near me.

God is saying. Now he can really fly.

I said “ what is happening to me?”

God said “You have become an angel.”

“I have a special job for you, you see.”

“You will become a guardian angel “

“You will guard your girlfriend”

“I have another job for her angel.”

I said “How could I guard my girlfriend?”

“You love her” God said. “That’s my angle.”

“Since you love her you will protect her”

“Do not fear for God is always near.”

“All knowledge needed, I will confer

to you . There is no need to fear.”

At lightning speed I flew to you.

You could not see me by your side.

You were mourning. Your love was true.

It was so sad I almost cried.

As time passed, you became different.

You started using drugs & drinking.

Friends noticed the difference.

What was it you were thinking.?

Then, you said you missed me so.

It hurt you to your very core.

You just couldn’t let me go.

You couldn’t take it anymore.

Later, I stopped an O.D. attempt.

I had a friend come over in time.

You tried not to show contempt.

He said he knew that you were mine.

But, He didn’t want you to hurt yourself.

So he came over just to check on you.

You were so ashamed.   He helped

you to start feeling more like you.

He doesn’t know why he came .

He just had an urgency to come.

You told him not to feel blame.

“My guardian angel was the one.”

“It had to be him that brought you here.”

“Just in time to save my life.”

All he could say was he felt someone near.

He is glad to see you were alright.

After that, he would drop in often.

A friendship grew to become love.

Later,  he said he was moving to Boston.

Would you come to & be his love?

He asked you to marry him & you said yes.

You started making plans.

I said “Well, this is some mess.”

But, I went along. I was an angel, not a man.

Then, all of a sudden, I awoke.

I was in my bed, the sheets a mess.

I got up and grabbed my coat.

I rushed to your house in a minute , or less.

I told you I had had a dream.

I told you all that had happened.

I said it was a sign.—- I mean,

it is not something that will happen.

I meant I wanted to marry you.

I knew for sure you were the one.

I was glad the dream did ensue.

God wants us to have a son.

You agreed to marry me.

To be my bride. No questions why..

You wanted people just to see

It’s really true..God doesn’t lie.—————R. W. Johnson—–(2012)

Believe It Or Not

            Believe It Or Not

I took a trip on a sailing ship.

We sailed into a mysterious fog.

The captain didn’t  give any lip.

He wrote it all in his captain’s log.

When we emerged all had changed.

We didn’t know where we were.

Our compass readings had rearranged.

How in the world had this occurred?

Then we saw it. We didn’t believe it.

Sea monsters in the water below.

A rock ahead with sirens on it.

Mermaids swimming around real slow.

An island just a half league ahead.

A nice harbor to dock the ship.

“This place is spooky” was said.

“We’ll go ashore & explore it.”

Once on land all seemed quiet.

Only the splashing of the waves.

Then, what sounded like a riot,

coming from the jungle maze.

We went to see what was going on.

In a clearing stood a Tyrannosaurs Rex.

“What is this we’ve come upon?”

“What? Dinosaurs? What the heck?”

He was eating on a fresh kill.

Birds were squawking all around.

He didn’t notice us. We stood still.

Then, something else we found.

A giant egg hidden in the weeds.

Could it be a dinosaur egg?

Then we saw who the mother must be.

A  Pterodactyl with extended legs

swooped down & grabbed the egg, you see.

We dove for cover real fast.

It flew away up over the trees.

We cautiously crawled out of the grass.

We saw unicorns and fairies too.

We expected to see Bigfoot anytime.

Instead, we saw King Kong, then we knew.

All weird tales or nursery rhymes

existed here. It blew our minds.

This was like a Twilight Zone.

We had to get out of here in time.

The thought of being trapped made us groan.

We got back to the ship as fast as we could.

We headed back toward the fog..

None of us really understood.

But, the captain wrote it all in his log.

Once through the fog again

we were back on our course.

None of us knew where to begin.

We would keep quiet with no remorse.

To talk of it would label you a nut.

No one would want to have such glory.

But, we each knew the truth deep in our gut.

Believe it or not; this little horror story.—–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)
