Go Tell It In The Valley

Go Tell It In The Valley

We met in the valley far below.

It was as far as I could go.

I wished to see you once again.

To me you were much more than a friend.

You came to the mountain high above.

You came just to see your love.

Music played & the trees kept time.

Then I knew that you were mine.

From the valley far below

came the one to whom I bestow

all the powers that are mine.

May you stay till the end of time.

I left the mountain only once.

I met you as I ate my lunch.

I was guided to your side

by this power that is deep inside.

You were attracted immediately.

Like I was all that you could see.

We only had a short time together.

It was long enough, it couldn’t get better.

You came to the mountain high above.

You came just to see your love.

Music played and the trees kept time.

Then I knew that you were mine.

From the valley far below

came the one to whom I bestow

all the powers that are mine.

May you stay till the end of time.

The mountain is a place of sacred power.

A place to worship in the early hours.

A mighty gift has been given to me.

I share it with you & set you free.

The two of us become as one.

We strive together till day is done.

We work toward that special day.

When we will go forth, as we pray. ———–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

Fantasy In The Rain

      Fantasy In The Rain

I saw her standing all alone.

Rain running down her hair.

It was enough to make me grown.

A single ray of sunlight lit up her skin so fair.

Revealing a beauty I’ve never known.

My mind retreated into a different place.

One filled with fantasies of her.

Every fantasy aglow with her lovely face.

Something deep inside told me it would never occur.

Still, I had to try, even if it meant failure & disgrace.

As I drew nearer, she came up to me.

She asked for directions to a certain café.

Shocked, I told her the easiest way it could be.

“Just follow me. I will show you the way.”

She said “Oh, you don’t have to do that for me.”

Before long, we arrived at the café.

I asked her if she would like a warm drink.

She said “I would but, I am waiting for someone. Is that ok?”

I said fine & bought her a coffee as black as ink.

I offered her some cream.—- What to say?

“Who are you waiting for. A relative?”

“My so called boyfriend, if he shows.”

“You mean to say he wouldn’t relish it?”

“Not anymore. You know how it goes.”

I told her I’m sorry. I almost yelled it.

We drank coffee & talked for an hour.

No sign of the boyfriend, nor a call.

I said “Let’s go to a movie” as I gave her a flower.

She was surprised but, agreed to it all.

This started a relationship that did not sour.

To make this story short, things worked out well.

We ended up becoming one for life.

I think things turned out really swell.

My fantasies are now real & are they bright!!

I found my fantasy in the rain. She really rang my bell.

The Light

       The Light

The beautiful city by the bay.

A great place to visit, they say.

So I hopped on a ferry & went to see.

Just how lovely this city could be.

It was beautiful. Lots going on.

Entertainment from dusk till dawn.

Lots of lovely sights to see.

I just wish you were with me.

Suddenly, in a blinding flash.

I was witness to all the trash.

Murder, robbery, rape, & lust.

Lots of violence. No one to trust.

Then, a blinding light all around.

Reaching from Coit Tower to Chinatown.

I shaded my eyes. It was so bright.

It was quite a scary sight.

I strained my ears trying to hear.

Hear any sound that was clear.

Only one word, spoken loud.

It was heard by all the crowd.

REPENT!!

I dropped to my knees & confessed all sins.

I only knew, any who did wins.

Many cussed and shook their fists.

They weren’t having any of this.

Soon, all returned to normal.

People looked around, then became real formal.

They acted as if nothing had happened.

They continued on, just as it had been.

Yes, the city by the bay is a delight.

Especially when seen in a different light.

It changed me for the rest of my life.

For many others it only added to their strife.

Day Trippin, Or Prophecy?

       Day Tripping Or Prophecy??

If you hear a step upon your star tonight.

See a light not much brighter than a candlelight.

It’s not your imagination leading you astray.

It’s only me. Talk for awhile, before I slip away.

I have fought my way through fairy dust.

Followed a rainbow till it turned to rust.

Traveled beyond the imagination of man.

Just to talk with you while I can.

I love how the colors dance on your dress.

Your beauty leaves poets trying to guess

what to say to capture it in words.

You’re more beautiful than exotic birds.

You have been with us throughout time.

Every man has wished ‘you were mine.’

Your wisdom stretches to infinity.

Then back again as you check on me.

I have blundered in many ways.

Yet, you never let me stray.

Tell me what you have in mind?

Asks a humble servant from one so kind.

The answer will come as I travel the road.

I feel as  unworthy as a horny toad.

Your thoughts  are so beyond my own.

I can only lie here and moan.

The knowledge has been put in my head.

It’s like magic, all that you’ve said.

I will go forward with your words.

Tell everyone what I’ve heard.

Others will find their way to you.

Then you can tell them what to do.

Before long, all will know the way.

Take us all  to your place to stay.————–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

The Drought

                      The Drought

The sun is going down across this blistered land.

Little is left alive except a few trees, lizards, & man.

A lone guitar is heard in the fading light.

Man won’t give up the land without a fight.

Summer is over.

The city swelters in the welcomed dusk.

Florescent lights shine through the dust.

A soldier in a bar dreams of a love affair.

While children & mothers swat bugs in the air.

Summer is over.

It’s a never ending show.

Traffic moves by very slow.

Afraid to stir the dusty air.

Flowers lie dead everywhere.

In this cursed, drought dried land

stands a sunburned, lonely man.

His heart is aching for the one he lost.

This is what the drought has cost.

Everything dies from lack of water.

Thanks to man & his foolish fodder.

A small ray of hope burns in the air around all.

Summer is over. —-Will this end it all?

A few more weeks till cooling autumn comes.

Then, maybe, blessed rain for everyone.

Summer is over.

This cannot go on like this for another year.

Man will die without rain. There will be no beer.

There will be no crops to keep man alive.

Animals will die. Bees will mummify in their hive.

Thanks to man & his foolish fodder.———-R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

Heavenly Dream

           Heavenly Dream

I went in search of the silver star.

I made a left just past Mars.

I went past the asteroid belt.

I flew so fast I thought I’d melt.

But, it’s really cold in space.

Not a very friendly place.

I traveled beyond the solar system.

Now I have to use my wisdom.

There are no direction signs out here.

Very little around, I fear.

Out, out into the galaxy.

I flew fast & I flew free.

Finally I reached the nearest star.

But, nothing silver here so far.

I headed for Orion’s belt.

I went fast  with what I was dealt.

When I arrived there  was a giant star tunnel.

Stars on all sides like a funnel.

Into the funnel I dived.

I began to think; soon I will arrive.

At the end I found the silver star.

Often called the Northern Star.

I was about to land when I awoke.

I heard a voice as it spoke.

“It’s not time for you to be here yet.”

“You can come home when everything’s set”.

It’s ‘Alien’ To The Aliens

         It’s ‘Alien’ To The Aliens

I was walking down a country road.

I was all alone, looking for a toad.

Then, I saw the thing coming out of the sky.

A UFO here?—– I wondered why?

It stopped over head 200 feet up.

The bottom looked like a paper cup.

It was metal, but, the shape, you see.

Looked like a paper cup to me.

All of a sudden a blue light came on.

I was thinking ‘color me gone.’

Next thing I know I was lifted away.

Scooped right up into its bay.

What I saw then was really weird.

Looked like overgrown veggies had appeared.

Big green lumps like broccoli heads.

Mushroom tops and carrot shreds.

All apparently made of metal.

There were even big things like a kettle.

I got to my feet and walked around.

There was nobody to be found.

Then I saw what could have been a door.

Except it was weird, coming out of the floor.

I got close and it opened up.

It led to a slide into a buttercup.

I slid down into something soft.

A spongy consistence set on a loft.

Down below were alien beings.

They were busy at whatever I was seeing.

Then a voice came to me within my head.

It was in English, not Martian instead.

It must have been mental telepathy.

I was alert with no lethargy.

It said “Welcome to the stellar ship Orion.”

I said “You kidnapped me. I ain’t lying.”

“Relax, we only have a few questions.”

“I hope this isn’t to teach me a lesson.”

“How does your race feel about alien beings?”

“It’s hard to say without first seeing.”

“Would they join a Space Federation?”

“You should ask the President” I said with elation.

“Do not you all have an equal say?”

“Hell no!! Not in this world of today.”

“It seems we have questioned the wrong person”

“Oh, I don’t know. At least I’m not cursing.”

Next I knew I awoke in a pile of leaves.

I was deep in a forest with many trees.

I walked till I came to a road.

Flagged down a truck with a heavy load.

I found out I was  about 30 miles from home.

I had lost a day in my ‘stellar’ roam.

I didn’t tell him of my situation.

I just said I was on vacation.

But, one thing I know as sure as bacon.

If they ask the President, he’ll make them

honorary citizens if they vote for him.

“Have some food stamps.” he’ll say with a grin.

But, he won’t have us join any Federation.

Only a Socialist society, then he’ll take them.

Mysterious Journey

           Mysterious Journey

Down rugged, misty, long forgotten, mountain trails

we struggled on until we could finally see.

Down in the mysterious valley.

It is where ‘they’ will be.

In a land of mystery and enchantment.

We knew the only answer was down

in the valley at the macabre encampment.

Where the ‘mystic ones’ were reported to be.

Though, never seen.

No matter how much we would stare.

We could feel ‘them’.

We knew that ‘they’ were there.

Down in the valley is where ‘they’ had to be.

We had to know. We had to go.

Though the risk was so high

it threatened our very souls.

Down in the valley

was where we had to go.———————–R. W. Johnson—–(2004)

The Ultimate Magician

           The Ultimate Magician

Today was the day of his opening show.

He was a magician, don’t you know.

He had an act you wouldn’t believe.

This guy could really deceive.

His total act was all new tricks.

Never done by other ‘big hits’.

His fame spread far and wide.

Soon, he was playing Vegas, doing shows live.

His fame grew so big that it exploded.

Other magicians came, it was noted.

None could explain how he did his illusions.

It was done smooth, with no protrusions.

Then he upped the ante by doing the impossible.

Other magicians said “It just isn’t possible.”

They began to talk among themselves.

Could this man do ‘real’ magic, do tell?

They devised a plan to catch him off guard.

They would find out just how dumb they are.

Because, just as they sprung their trap,

he disappeared,—-how about that!!

He never reappeared again.

For him it was the end.

Magicians still talk about him today.

They keep thinking ‘maybe there’s a way’.

But, what price did the young man have to pay?

I’ll let you figure it out in your own way.
