Mother’s Day

      Mother’s Day

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day again.

Once a year we honor them.

My mother is no longer around.

She stepped into tomorrow, I found.

It is an easier way to look at death.

Thank God,  her memory hasn’t  faded yet.

For all with mothers still alive.

Tomorrow, her special day will arrive.

Treat her to a special meal or outing.

Maybe flowers or candy. No pouting.

Tell her you love her because you do.

Without her, you wouldn’t be you.

Being a mother is a very tough job.

God didn’t want this to be odd.

He made a woman ready to do the job.

It is a job that really reflects God.

Not all mothers are loved by their own.

Often, it is not her fault, it is shown.

The cases where a mother has fallen short,

there are extenuating circumstances to sort.

Most of us love our mothers with good reason.

To say we don’t would fall just short of treason.

Our mothers gave their lives to raise us right.

A mother’s love for their offspring is no respite.

So do your best to make her proud.

Make your love stand out in the crowd.

God would do no less for me & you.

Your mother is special. She loves you too.

True Blue For Only You

      True Blue For Only You

It happened once. Then, it happened again.

I tried to explain just how I’ve been.

My love was strong & it was real.

You didn’t want to believe my spiel.

I had a history that was not good.

I have never acted like I should.

I went around breaking little girl’s hearts.

Now, I see where that was not smart.

I love this girl so much it hurt.

She had a great fear I would soon flirt.

I had no intention of doing so.

I wanted to be her permanent  beau.

Seems I had cried wolf once too often.

Nothing will help it to soften.

I can’t be trusted to be true blue.

Yet, I can’t stop hurting for you.

How to show I’ve changed my ways?

Though, it may take many days,

I have to prove my love is true.

I only want to belong to you.

You have taken a ‘prove it’ attitude.

I could be in a different latitude.

For all the difference my efforts were making.

You weren’t going for ‘I’m there for the taking.’

Gifts, flowers, and cards don’t help.

I need something to make your heart melt.

Groveling at your feet is a no, no.

I am not putting on a show.

I am serious in all I say & do.

My whole life is devoted to you.

I won’t look in another girl’s direction.

You are all I see in my reflection.

You haven’t cut me off as yet.

Maybe there is a chance to get

inside your heart to stay.

Show you this is the only way.

In the end, what a blessing it will be.

You’ll be so glad you waited for me.

We will live in never ending bliss.

Who would have thought it could be like this.

It Ended In Peace

      It Ended In Peace

He had been a bad man all his life.

That’s why he was on death row.

Today is the last day of the fight

to try to keep his life in tow.

Execution time was approaching fast.

His last meal was being eaten.

Soon, the walk that would be his last

would come. He felt beaten.

“Dead man walking” it was known as.

That  walk to meet his maker.

He didn’t give the guards any sass.

He was quiet. No longer a taker.

The pastor asked if he had any last words.

Then, he saw a person of light.

He was real. It was not absurd.

No other saw him. There was no fight.

The being said “The Lord knows your heart.”

“Are you sorry for all your sins?”

“Do you ask forgiveness This is no lark.”

The man said “Yes, yes. How do I begin?”

“The being said “It is done. You are saved.”

‘Your name is written in the book of life.”

“Though, for your sins on earth, you must pay.”

“Your eternity is assured without any strife.”

The light faded away. He said “I am sorry”

The pastor said “Bless you my son.”

“May you sleep in eternal rest.”

At that the man got a real smile on his face.

As the IV dripped the fluid into his arm,

to put him to sleep. He smiled .

He seemed to truly not be alarmed.

“He has found peace” the pastor said, without denial.

Wolf Sees More In A Man

Wolf Sees More In A Man

He was a kindly, little, old, nature loving man.

He was out in the woods looking for mushrooms. .

He was down on his knees checking out the land.

Wolves caught his sent and found him real soon.

They surrounded him before he was aware.

The pack leader slowly approached the man.

He saw the wolf and could only stare.

The pack leader sniffed, then backed away, turned & ran.

He gave a howl and the other wolves followed.

The man couldn’t believe what just happened.

Thank God, the wolves didn’t want his raw bones.

He gathered the mushrooms in his lap then.

Then, he walked back to where his car remained.

About 2 months later he was back in the woods.

He heard a wolf crying, like it was in pain.

He found a pup, who would run away, if he could.

He couldn’t. His leg was in a trap & was broken.

The man freed the pup and carried him away.

In his car he had a brace. It was a real token.

Just the right size to fix the whelp’s leg today.

He fixed up the pup & returned him to the place.

He thought the pup could get home from there.

He made sure the trap wasn’t set, just in case.

He didn’t realize the wolves were all aware.

They watched everything he had done.

They saw that he had helped the little whelp.

They remembered that he was the one.

The one the pack leader decided to help.

A week later, he was back in the woods.

The wolves surrounded him like before.

He raised his hands up, knowing he should.

The pack leader  approached once more.

He sniffed, then licked the man’s hand.

Then gave a small growl like a meow.

Then, he turned and left the man.

He gave a small yip, then a growl.

All the wolves followed the leader.

He was left scratching his head.

It seemed he had nothing to fear.

It seemed to him that God had led.

It was the pack leader’s pup he helped.

The pack leader sensed this from the first.

He knew this man was not a whelp.

Sure enough, his senses were not a curse.

God gives all animals what they use.

God knew the man would help the pup.

His wisdom gave the wolf all the cues.

This was a man to save, not rip up.

It’s So Devine

      It’s So Divine

It’s getting late. It’s time to go.

It is like you already know.

You snuggle close. The message is clear.

You’re so happy when I am here.

Still, I must leave. I don’t want to deceive.

I know you really don’t want me to leave.

It is nice to know that you are really mine.

The feeling is so very divine.

Time goes by & we are together again.

Yet, it goes by so fast, how can I win.

You do everything to make it just right.

When it’s time to go I don’t want a fight.

We both know that I have to leave.

We don’t want to but, we must deceive.

I know I have to bide my time.

Yet, when I’m with you it’s so divine.

Then, one day,  you say he is gone.

I am praying that you’re not wrong.

You say it is true. Now you are mine.

I won’t have to leave this time.

So, I stayed, and I’m still here.

There is nothing more for me to fear.

The way is clear, I will never leave.

I will never again need to deceive.

All our dreams are coming true.

You have me and I have you.

Now, I am with you all the time.

Every day is so divine.

Side Streets

      Side Streets

Time rolls along down the main highway of life.

Here, we face happiness, also,  our strife.

Yet, there are many things we learn and say

that we didn’t pick up along the main highway.

It seems there are many side streets.

Some that offer us many treats.

They may or may not be best for us.

I guess it depends on who you trust.

Other side streets offer adventure.

But, we may find, if we venture

down these streets, we get off course.

To get back, it may take force.

A force of will to overcome.

Overcoming is hard for some.

Yet, to reach our full potential,

It will be far from uneventful.

We may be following a goal.

So, we have some idea which way to go.

But, to reach our destiny,

we must resist trips down side streets, you see.

Side streets are not always named.

Going down them, we could be maimed.

Walk with pride but, with wisdom too.

Learn from your mistakes. Learn to be true.

True to yourself in every way.

Just take it day by day.

In the end you’ll know who you are.

Your destiny is fulfilled when you are your own star.

Only By Faith

      Only By Faith

Two shots ring out in the dark.

One of them has pierced her heart.

We don’t need the Bible to know.

Something is wrong with this show.

Two young lovers walking along.

They were happy, singing a song.

When this tragedy struck one dead.

There was nothing to be said.

Months later, the police had a suspect.

Mistake in identity was his regret.

He intended for it to be someone else.

It doesn’t change how we all felt.

We wanted blood, mainly his.

He needs the death penalty for all this.

Life goes on for us without her.

Nothing really makes it better, for sure.

There has got to be a better way.

People are being killed every day.

Wasted lives, snuffed out when young.

Never knowing what they would become.

Are we to forgive the person who kills our love one?

Does that make it better, like it had never begun?

It takes a deep agape love to understand this.

Otherwise, there is no sense even being remiss.

Without agape love, the death penalty is it.

Still,—– nothing will ever  let you forget.

A type of hate festers and grows.

Nothing will cool it. that’s how it goes.

The end result is a loss all around.

There has to be holier ground.

The fact that God can take away all hate & bitterness.

Is a miracle beyond words, least we forget.

I pray that I am never faced with such a thing.

By faith alone,  can one’s feelings bring

any kind of conciliation for such a heinous act.

Totally trusting in God is where it is at.

What’s Your Destiny?

      What’s Your Destiny?

What is a person’s destiny?

Can it be known at a person’s birth?

Whatever the circumstances can be.

Can affect what a man is worth.

But, each man has the power

to make his own destiny.

When he has reached his darkest hour,

he may choose the path to be free.

Be he a great person or a failure.

The choice was his to make.

He can be a hero or live in a trailer.

He can be kind or a nasty fake.

He can love others like himself.

Or despise everyone he meets.

He can whip himself with belts.

Doing penitence in his grief.

What type of person are you?

Do you think of your destiny?

Have you really thought it through?

Or, are you blinded by misery?

There is a destiny available to all.

One anyone would be proud to have.

Just answer His beaconed call.

Eternal life in heaven is not so bad.

Yet, we are all given a choice.

We all have free will.

It is time to raise your voice.

You have a destiny to fill.

Spring Cleaning In The Winter

      Spring Cleaning In The Winter

I see what to do, now that I’ve been here.

It’s time for spring cleaning in the winter.

Out with all those old bad moods.

All they do is make me lose.

Out with hatred and jealousy.

I can make her fall for me.

It is time to do away with the grudges.

They cripple me up so that I need crutches.

Time to stop the inferior feelings.

They can leave my body tingling.

Time to make room for more love.

Think of the type sent from above.

Clean up my act inside and out.

No time to sit around and pout.

Be a complimentary gentleman.

Women are always mentally thin.

Be the best that I can be.

I’m not talking about the ARMY, you see.

After the cleaning, I’m ready for spring.

And all the loving it can bring.

My mind is open, my heart is to.

Now,—– all I need is you.

Love Never Grows Old

      Love Never Grows Old

Tell me, are my eyes still blue?

My hair is gray, just like you.

Do my lips still taste the same?

Despite all the aches and pains,

I still love you like I always did.

I have loved you since we were kids.

My skin is dry and wrinkled.

I have problems when I tinkle.

Liver spots are now quite common.

My favorite food is now Top Ramon.

I have to take my time when I walk.

My legs look like 2 pieces of chalk.

Yet, my heart is still aflame.

Just the mention of your name

can get my heart to flutter.

You excite me like no other.

Many seasons have come and gone.

If I had known I’d live so long,

I would have kept in better shape.

That way, I could still have my cake.

But, never cake without the frosting.

I know how much it is costing.

For you are the frosting on my cake.

You have been since the very first date.

I have grown old but, I don’t feel blue.

Why?—– Because I still have you.
