Get To The Point

Get To The Point

Enough of the small talk.
It is time to get down to basics.
I don’t want to hear you squawk.
Let’s not make this like a matrix.

Time to get down to the brass tacks.
No more beating around the bush.
No more waiting for it to pass.
Time to get up off your tush.

No more stalling and excuses.
Time to get to the heart of things.
Follow the path to where the moose is.
Face the music, like you had wings.

Time to get down and bite the bullet.
It is time to get to the point.
No more acting like you already know it.
Don’t get pushed all out of joint.

Put your money where your mouth is.
Time to pay the piper, so to speak.
No time out to take a wiz.
Stand tall and quit feeling weak.

We have faced it 100 times before.
We must be strong & face it again.
Don’t try sneaking out the door.
Are you a wimp or a real friend.

Time to get down and dirty.
Time to get down to the nitty gritty.
No more ducking out like a dirty birdy.
The end result may not be pretty.

Time to take one and wrap it up.
Time to put an end to it all.
What do you mean I should shut up?
It is time you fess up to what you saw.

The Desire Of Man

The Desire Of Man

Somewhere, deep in the heart of man.
Is the desire to do what he can.
To try to overcome his sinful nature.
To have God his care taker.
Total surrender is the only way to try.
With the Holy Spirit as your guide.
Nothing is impossible for God.
It is Him. Not you. That’s not odd.
Who can say they can save themselves?
Can’t be done. Even with the help of elves.
Fall at the foot of the cross.
Give it all to God at all cost.
Christ and God are one & the same.
Only difference is in the name.
If you’ve seen Christ, you’ve seen the Father.
Some have asked “Where is the daughter?”
It is doubtful gender makes a difference.
Be He a prince—– or a princes.
The Holy Spirit is an extension of Him.
The Holy Spirit can lead you from sin.
Lead you to total surrender.
The law of sin in the flesh can render
an action contrary to Christ.
It can be covered by His blood sacrifice.
His righteousness will cover your sinful nature.
Leaving you perfect. He took your place here.
What more can we ask at such a price?
To even think we deserve more isn’t nice.
Through His power, we can overcome.
Total surrender means we are one.
We become a new creature in Christ.
He is the one who paid the price.
We deserve all He was given.
Yet, He tells us we are forgiven.
I am unworthy to be in His presence.
His rightness protects me hence.
Oh, wretched thing that I am.
I only desire to be with Him.

Let Love Bloom In The Spring

Let Love Bloom In Spring

Spring is in the air again.
You can smell it on the wind.
Birds are chirping in the trees.
Hear the buzzing of the bees.

Flowers blooming everywhere.
Smell their perfume in the air.
The sun is warm and bright.
See all the stars at night.

It’s a time for love to bloom.
Here comes a bride and groom.
This is a very special time.
There is romance on my mind.

Seems she doesn’t feel the same.
She doesn’t want to hear my name.
I agree, it was a long rough winter.
Yet it should not bring a splinter.

Put all that behind us, my dear.
Can’t you see springtime is here.
Time to start all over again.
Plant a seed & it will grow, my friend.

Let it take root in your heart.
Before long, you won’t want to be apart.
Our love will grow into a mighty tree.
Spreading its leaves for all to see.

Get into the spring spirit with me.
Let our love grow into that tree.
We were meant to be together.
Forget all about that winter weather.

Love, Mostly From A Distance

Love, Mostly At A Distance

If you go and see the world like you want,
remember,—– all I want is you.
You will go without me. Not a taunt.
Still, our love will never die. It is true.
Sometimes you are like a rolling stone.
You gather no moss as you move along.
I will remain here, faithful to the bone.
Just remember that as you sing your song.
You were born with a restless sole.
I was born to be a person happy at home.
Just remember wherever you go.
I don’t like staying here all alone.
Bring it back. Bring back your love to me.
The longer you’re gone, the worse it is.
I know in your heart you want to feel free.
Still, you don’t want our love to lose its fizz.
I don’t mind going for a day or two.
As long as you are with me the whole way.
For longer trips I always end up missing you.
I can’t stand leaving home and staying away.
Yet, this feeds your sole. It is what you do.
My love will survive till you return.
I can think of no other except you.
Will your love for me survive, is my concern.
Usually I say yes. Being positive is what I do.
I see no solution to this ongoing problem.
I live with it and take the blows.
Can you think of a way to solve them?
My love remains strong. And so it goes.

Hillbilly With A Drinking Problem

Hillbilly With A Drinking Problem

Hey Boregard, what ya doin tonight?
I’m a goin outside and takin flight.
What chu sayin? You all can’t fly.
By 9:00 tonight—– I will be high.

Ya old boozer, yer at it again.
Ya drink more than Bobby Linn.
The town drunk fer the past 8 years.
He only knows ‘more’ & ‘cheers.’

Why ya getting all liquored up fer now?
Ya knows yer wife is gonna have a cow.
I’m gonna fly like the ‘witchy woman.’
She’s the one The Eagles saw coming.

Ya keep it up an you’ll have the D T’s again.
See pink elephants and kiss your friends.
You’ll be a twitchin on the floor.
Puking and a barfing all over some more.

Don’t chu a worry bout my drinkin now.
I don’t care ifin my wife has a cow.
I be a celebratin the big occasion.
I be the leader of a bran new nation.

What nation is that? The drunken nation?
No. The Nation of Dalmatians.
Ya know I got a slew o them dogs.
I have more dogs than I have hogs.

You be Looney tunes is what you are.
You’re whacker than a crazy ‘baar.’
That booze is a killin yer brain cells.
Yer brain gets pickled, then it swells.

Let me take ya somewhere tonight.
It’s a new meetin I think you’ll like.
Do they show the old smut films?
I like em & the food. Fire up those kilns.

This be an A. A. meetin. Might save yer life.
Before ya get yerself killed by yer wife.
It be a good thing fer you to do.
I don’t wanna be havin to bury you.

You can guess what Boregard said.
Yeah, he’s still drunk & out of his head.
He said A. A. was “Drunk A Logs” fer all.
Not as fun as actually havin a ball.

When he dies the town bar will go broke.
On his tombstone will be his quote.
“A beer to me is like a glass of water.”
“If it was a lake I’d swim like an otter.”

Health Lesson Learned Late

Health Lesson Learned Late.

Across town, I had to go.
I wanted to see a show.
The theater was over there.
But, really didn’t care.

It was a little out of my way.
Still, I drove by there every day.
My girl lived right near there.
I would always slow & stare.

Stare at the theater parking lot.
Roach Trucks parked on that spot.
I tried to see if she was there.
She ate there often, without a care.

We had talked about the risk of that.
Sometimes it was almost a spat.
I wouldn’t touch any of that food.
I felt it was prepared pretty crude.

But, that never bothered her.
She felt it was safe. That’s for sure.
Luckily, she never got sick.
Yet, I would not even touch it.

I was a health nut, to be sure.
Sort of fussy, as it were.
I only ate certain things.
She thought it was all beans.

Beans was not what I ate.
I ate veggies, fruit, and steak.
I avoided sugar and wheat.
I wouldn’t eat it if it was sweet.

Enough of that. We went to the show.
She wanted popcorn. Here we go.
With butter and a soda too.
I said “This is not for you.”

So, the fight over food began again.
It spoiled the movie, so I gave in.
I only ate nuts and drank water.
She said: “You eat like an otter.”

I didn’t disagree to prevent a fight.
She said her popcorn was light.
I disagreed, but kept quiet.
I didn’t want to start a riot.

After the movie, we went for dinner.
I took her to a place I called a winner.
She hardly even touched her meal.
It was healthy. A real deal.

Then she wanted to stop at Dunkin Donuts.
Said she wanted to get some cronuts.
Said that would be her dessert.
I said “No,” for what it’s worth.

Time goes by, like it always does.
She isn’t my girl now, just because.
My health is fine & I’m feeling good.
She is fat & not feeling like she should.

While with me she didn’t learn a thing.
Always thought I was being mean.
Now, she admits I may have been right.
For her to shape up will be a real fight.

Don’t Wait, Act Now!!

Don’t Wait, Act Now!!

Long ago, when I was a kid.
I use to explore all around.
A country boy, I often hid.
It was hard for me to be found.

We played hide and seek.
One of our primary things.
I would hide by the creek.
I disappeared, like I had wings.

Others would search for hours.
They never found me at all.
I climbed up in the bowers.
Then I prayed I wouldn’t fall.

They never looked up for me.
They looked on the ground.
If they looked up, they would see.
Then I would finally be found.

That never happened, even once.
It is like a lot of people today.
They go around, like in a funk.
Never looking up so they could say.

“Eureka!!,—– I have found it.”
They would realize where we are.
They would start using their wit.
Changing things, making it better by far.

“Look up, for your redemption draweth neigh.”
Does it sound familiar to you?
More truth in this than meets the eye.
Time to look up. Don’t be a fool.

Wake up and smell the roses.
Your world is disintegrating around you.
Do you have to be beat with rubber hoses?
Wake up, there is so much you can do.

Things could improve in every way.
If people would just look up and see.
If they would listen to what I say.
Things could be better for you and me.

Stop, look, and listen to it all.
There is still a little time.
Don’t wait till after the fall.
Then think you have lost your mind.

There is a way, but we must all act.
The ostrich syndrome won’t work .
We must come together, it’s a fact.
Be assertive, just like Captain Kirk.

The Coffee House

The Coffee House

Feeling down and all strung out?
Wondering what it’s all about?
I was in The Coffee House again.
Feeling good on my favorite ‘gin.’
Not booze, just really good coffee.
Despite the fact I often had to pee.
When down and out, coffee helped.
I would toss it down like taking a belt.
Coffee would give me energy.
I felt like moving.—– I felt free.
Like a heavy weight was lifted off me.
Despite the fact, I often had to pee.
What does coffee do for you?
Is it a ‘pick me up’ for you too?
Coffees come from everywhere.
In certain places, coffee is better there.
Find your favorite and drink it down.
Before long, you will be all over town.
The best place is in The Coffee House.
Drink your coffee and use your mouse.
Free WiFi for all coffee drinkers.
Good for the dreamers and the thinkers.
There is often entertainment too.
Someone will play music for you.
Or, maybe, there will be a poetry reading.
Welcoming you with a friendly greeting.
So, if you’re a little down and out.
The Coffee House is what it is about.
Come on down and have a cup of brew.
‘Nectar Of The Gods’ brewed just for you.

Enough Is Enough. He Was Fed Up.

Enough Is Enough. He Got Fed Up.

I don’t want to see you anymore.
I don’t want to feel your breath upon my neck.
I don’t want to try to even the score.
I have come to the point of ‘what the heck!!’
Anything that you try to do is too much.
You continue to be an irritant at all times.
You have become that pain I feel in my gut.
I don’t want to ever say again, “You’re mine.”
You can have the key to your door.
Give it to some other ‘sucker fish’ on your line.
I don’t need it. I don’t live there anymore.
Now I have better ways to spend my time.
You can catch a streetcar that goes into the sea.
The quicker it’s done the better I will feel.
It would mean the quicker you are away from me.
Sometimes I wonder how I got in this mess.
Then I remember. You needed some help.
Being a nice guy, I volunteered, I guess.
Before long, you had ‘suckered’ this little whelp
My life has been a living tragedy ever since.
But, that is finally over now.
I have finally hopped over the fence.
I have made my escape, like a free range cow.
The day will come when someone will stop you.
They will put you in your place.
You will be put high upon a shelf with no stool.
Then no one will ever have to see your face.

A Chaperone Through Life

A Chaperone Through Life

I went to a party on the back streets of L.A.
It was the same old thing I see every day.
A party without a chaperone is what it was.
Life without a chaperone is lousy because.
You have to learn things the hard way.
You can misinterpret what people say.
Life goes on, but the road gets rougher.
You grow up.——- You get tougher.
It seems it would be easier with a guide.
Someone who will take your hand with pride.
Guide you through the potholes of life.
Allow you to live with minimum strife.
What must such a person be?
Someone who will watch out for me.
An older brother or a street wise lover?
Maybe your father or your mother?
Whoever it is must be wise in their ways.
Be forgiving when I fail & say ‘it’s o.k.”
It could possibly be the Heavenly Father.
It wouldn’t be your son or daughter.
You should be such a person to them.
Let them learn from where you’ve been.
Life is not easy as we make our way.
Never be afraid of good advice, I say.
