Wedding Day For The Dragon Riders
Finally, the time had come.
Gale and Wendy would soon become as one.
He had proposed and she accepted.
Even their dragons were receptive.
They decided to marry the dragon way.
The dragons said it could be done today.
But, they had to travel to dragon land.
The place where dragons had command.
Above the clouds and beyond the rainbow.
A magical place where dragons go.
It may be on earth, then again, it may not be.
When they travel there, they will see.
They mounted their dragons and away they went.
No one but them knew of the event.
High and far the dragons flew.
Through the clouds and morning dew.
Then, they entered what looked like a funnel.
Swirling lights and colors all around the tunnel.
They were mesmerized by the sight.
They had never seen so many lights.
Colors beyond description,
sinking into their souls, like an inscription.
They felt love. They felt warmth.
They felt infinity was nothing to scorn.
They burst forth upon a beautiful land.
Flowing in colors, rivers, and sand.
Floating isles of wooded land.
Lovely jungles with perfumes grand.
Butterflies up to a foot across.
Beautiful birds, grass with a velvet gloss.
Magical creatures, even satyrs and unicorns.
Fairies, pixies, elves, lovely creatures with horns.
All creatures of folklore lived here too.
But, here, the dragons rule.
They flew to a castle of 12 precious stones.
All polished and shining, standing alone.
Inside was the Imperial Dragon of High.
The ruler of all that could be seen by dragon eye.
He would perform the marriage ceremony.
He had approved the matrimony.
‘This is rarely done here for humans.”
“But, you both have earned this conclusion.”
‘We were there the night you saved the dragons life.”
“Mentally, we followed all the strife.”
“We were all hoping this day would come.’
“So, we say welcome everyone.”
In a traditional ceremony they were wed.
Traditional to dragons. Different for them instead.
They walked out with dragons on each side.
Blowing fire overhead to match their stride.
They spent a week in the dragons land.
They saw more than they could understand.
But, they felt that they belonged.
Their dragons sang a special song.
The Imperial Dragon said it was time to leave.
“Trouble was brewing again.” “ There is no reprieve.”
“As Dragon Riders, you must do what you can.”
“It is our way to try to help man.”
“The day is coming when dragons will be rejected.”
“Until then, you must do as expected”
The Dragon Riders returned home.
Remembering their wedding at the foot of the throne.
They were as one now, along with their dragons.
They would do their duty. They would not be lagging.
