Do You Remember Me?

Do You Remember Me?

Do you remember me?
You are doubtful, I can see.
It was a very long time ago.
I cherished you, don’t you know?
I was extremely shy back then.
I tried hard to be your friend.
But, mostly, I was just ignored.
I probably made you pretty bored.
I don’t think you knew my name.
Just background noise in your game.
Do you remember me?
The one who could never be free.
Always trapped by a broken heart.
Pining for you from the very start.
My mind imagined everything.
I got only what make believe could bring.
It made my life a living hell.
Even when things were going well.
I didn’t know how to break the ice.
I was afraid what I did wouldn’t be nice.
Do you remember me?
Obviously you don’t. That much I can see.
I can say it makes no difference to me.
But, you see, I have never been free.
All these years hasn’t changed a thing.
I keep hoping what the next day will bring.
You are what I have been hoping for.
I dream of you knocking on my door.
But, I know that will never happen to me.
My whole life has been a fantasy.

Lose ‘High Hopes’, Gain A Sister

Lose ‘High Hopes’, Gain A Sister

When I first saw you, I was thunder struck.
You were driving by in a flat bed truck.
Sun burst blonde hair falling free.
The prettiest sight I could ever see.
You pulled into a restaurant parking lot.
You got out and you were looking hot.
I pulled in and parked there too.
No, I wasn’t really following you.
I was only going in for a bite to eat.
It seemed my heart was following my feet.
When I got in, you were at the counter.
I sat next to you. My heart did flounder.
You said “Good morning.” I almost passed out.
I stammered a reply, trying not to shout.
You had eyes so blue I almost drowned.
How did I live without you around.
We started talking, one to another.
You said you were looking for your brother.
You both were adopted by others when young.
You traced him to here, Licking your lips with your tongue.
You said “Maybe you might know him?”
You told me his name.—- I was frozen.
You had said my name. I fell through the floor.
How can this be? It cut to my core.
“That, that is my name. Are you sure?”
I just sat and stared at her.
She did have my color hair and eyes.
She smiled like me.—- No surprise.
She said “Holy cow!! Can it really be you?”
I sheepishly said “Your mama was no fool.”
In a matter of seconds, there was a change.
My ‘high hopes’ suddenly shared my last name.
Don’t get me wrong. I love her dearly now.
But, I still wish it had worked out somehow.

The Past, Present, And Future

The Past, Present, And Future

The way it was, I can clearly see.
Not so, the way it supposed to be.
The past is just a good bye.
The present is the reason why.
The future is yet for us to see.
Would you like to spend it with me?
They say we can learn from the past.
According to the present, that didn’t last.
The future, they say, we can make our own.
It will go smoother if we make a home.
It is only the future for which I can plan.
I want you with me, if I possibly can.
You are with me in my scheme of things.
I hope you really know what that means.
A day will come when I will look back.
I’ll say: “I arrived here because I did all that.”
With the proper foundation our love will stand.
We don’t want to build on a foundation of sand.
We want something that Is going to last.
So we will be content when our future is our past.

On The Line

On The Line

I am hooked and can’t get off the line.
You can reel me in at any time.
You don’t know you’ve caught such a prize.
I just wish I could see it in your eyes.
It wasn’t hard for you to do.
You had everything going for you.
I don’t know if it’s the clothes you wear.
Or, maybe the way you comb your hair.
Whatever it is, I’m on the line to stay.
I wouldn’t want it any other way.
I wish that line worked both ways.
I would reel you in to stay.
I act out at a party when you are there.
You don’t look or laugh. You just don’t care.
I have to put on a new disguise.
Being the class clown is not very wise.
There has to be a way to get to you.
There is so much you and I can do.
True love waits, but my patience is thin.
I have a goal. It’s you to win.
Win your heart and your love too.
Is that too much to ask of you?
I can always try some poetry.
Suggesting for you to go to me.
So I can smother you with love and kisses.
Or, would that be too much for the misses?
This is much more than an infatuation.
I am dying here of anticipation.
Loving someone who doesn’t know.
Can steal away your very soul.
I am on the line and I don’t want off.
Until your heart starts to get soft.
Eventually, things may go my way.
Until then, I will continue to pray.

A Long Time Coming

A Long Time Coming

You sit there all alone with no friends.
Who knew it would be like this in the end.
You had plenty of friends back in the day.
Back in high school. Those were the days.
One of the most popular kids in school.
No one took you to be a fool.
Since then, they have all moved away.
Or, got married and went their own way.
Like the old country western news.
Good time Charlie has got the blues.
But, you are not alone in your druthers.
I can tell you now, there is another.
Someone who had a crush on you.
Back when you were both in high school.
But, to you he was just a friend at best.
As for him liking you, you wouldn’t have guessed.
Don’t be surprised when I say,
he still admires you to this very day.
His crush is as strong as it ever was.
But, he was afraid to act on it because
he thought of you as above his level.
Being in this position is really the devil.
If you are tired of being lonely and blue.
Look him up. Just say: “It’s you.”
That will send him into a tail spin.
But, you can save him with a grin.
Pick a place and a time to meet.
For old time’s sake. It will be a treat.
You will be treated with such tenderness.
He is well practiced at this quest.
He has dreamed of nothing else since high school.
He would never make a fool out of you.
Sincerity, sweetness, loving all the way.
Something you’ve dreamed of since those days.
This won’t be a fantasy high school Romeo.
This will be mature full blown love. Hello.
Are you finally ready to be swept off your feet?
I think it is time for you and I to meet.

Play Day At The Park

Play Day At The Park

The time of day said it’s time to play.
I am hoping all will go okay.
She will be in the park about now.
I have to try to meet her somehow.
You would think I would come up with a plan.
Nothing seemed right, but I must be the man.
I said: “Hi, haven’t I seen you here before?”
“Probably. I come here often to explore.”
“I know this park like the back of my hand.”
“I would be happy to help you, if I can.”
“My name is Bob. What is yours?”
“Mine is Phenelope. Penny for short.”
“I like that. It sounds high fashion.”
“You can go to the head of the class then.”
She smiled when I laughed at that.
She said: “I hope I don’t smell a rat.”
‘What do you mean by that?”
“If you’re up to no good, you’ll get zapped.”
“I have pepper spray here in my purse.”
“God sakes, no!! Don’t make me curse.”
“I can’t be taking chances these days.”
“I know what you mean. I am Amazed.”
“Amazed about what, may I ask.”
“That you didn’t think I was making a pass.”
“What? You were making a pass?”
“I won’t admit it now, my dear lass.”
They both laughed about that.
They spent the afternoon exploring the paths.
They talked and got better acquainted.
He felt like he had been anointed.
Covered by her sweet tenderness.
She relaxed. Nothing seemed to be amiss.
They made a date to meet again the next day.
He felt something good was coming his way.

Soul Searching

Soul Searching

You are always going from town to town.
One job to another. Whatever you found.
No permanent roots. It was not your thing.
You were not really into anything.

Just not ready yet to settle down.
You still kept one foot on the ground.
Paycheck to paycheck was your thing.
You weren’t looking for a wedding ring.

Oh,—Have you wondered about it at all?
Are you worried about a fall?
Those odd feelings that you sometimes get.
Those feelings that you cannot forget.
Are they almost like a pain to you?
Yet, there is never any follow through.

You decided to make a different fate.
So, you moved to a different state.
Different people, different jobs.
Yet, you were still feeling odd.

You’re like someone waiting for a call.
But, there is nothing out there at all.
You’re inner self has needs to fulfill.
Yet, you have resisted it with your will.

Oh,—Have you wondered about it at all?
Are you worried about a fall?
Those odd feelings that you sometimes get.
Those feelings that you cannot forget.
Are they almost like a pain to you?
Yet, there is never any follow through.

Could that feeling be loneliness?
No close relations can lead to this.
Do you feel that something is missing?
Is there anything that feels uplifting?

Do you ever feel incomplete?
Are you searching for a special treat?
Do you think you can bring it around?
By continuing to roam from town to town?

Oh,—Have you wondered about it all?
Are you worried about a fall?
Those odd feelings that you sometimes get.
Those feelings that you cannot forget.
Are they almost like a pain to you?
Yet, there is never any follow through.

Well Worth It

Well Worth It

She loved deep and she loved strong.
Not many like her ever come along.
The perfect girl anyone could have.
Why did she end up with such a cad?
Many would want her as their girl.
So sweet & loving.— Such a thrill.
Then someone like him ruined her.
He treated her badly. Such a cur.
I would of treated her like a queen.
She would never worry in between.
I would always be faithful and true.
Surely, my mama didn’t raise no fool.
She was too trusting till she met him.
Oh, what a predicament he put her in.
She came out crushed & scared for life.
She would have made the perfect wife.
Curse this beast and all he’s done.
She may never be able to have fun.
She will always be untrusting of men.
He’s to blame for the pickle were in.
It will take a lifetime of loving work.
A job I would take on, and not shirk.
To save one as precious as her,
anything is worth it. That’s for sure.

Always A Storm

Always A Storm

Our love can no longer remain.
That is because you have broken the chain.
The chain of love that bound us together.
So strong, it would survive any weather.

I struggled to find the reason for this.
What caused our love to go amiss?
Since, I have been feeling so forlorn.
I have found I am always a storm.

Strong emotions of hurricane strength.
Always in a stir over whatever you think.
It would take a lot to settle me down.
I could only do it if you were around.

But, this was taking its toll on you.
It took all you had just to get through.
It all finally came to the breaking point.
Nothing helped, not even a joint.

The chain of love was finally broken.
I could use the pieces as a token.
All I can do now is to mourn.
And remember, I am always a storm.

What The Heart Takes

What The Heart Takes

Only love can break a heart,
Only love can mend it again.
Once the heart is torn apart.
Love can cause it to mend.

But, there will still be scars.
And a fragile emotional state.
The fragile emotional heart,
prevents love from being great.

This fate has been overcome.
It takes work from both parties.
It can’t be done by only one.
But, once achieved, the heart is free.

What is achieved is called trust.
Destroyed when the heart broke.
Without it a relationship is only lust.
With it, you are one lucky bloke.

Trust is the keystone of love that lasts.
Love will bloom, but not without it.
With it, your love life will be a blast.
It will become the best you can get.

So, I pray you never get a broken heart.
Never have to go through that heartache.
If you do, here’s how to make a new start.
Trust. It’s the key. It’s what the heart takes.
