It’s A Mystery / Love In Bloom

      It’s A Mystery

It’s a mystery

When I stare into your eyes.

I am helpless.

It’s like I’m hypnotized.

Yes, It’s a mystery

Whenever I hear your voice.

I feel helpless.

It seems I have no choice.

Just a whisper

Sends chills to my very soul.

I am speechless.

I never want you to go.

Yes, It’s a mystery

When you are by my side.

I feel helpless.

My feelings I can’t hide.

But, I am frozen.

As if I were paralyzed.

Yes, It’s a mystery

How I feel about you.

I feel helpless.

I don’t know what to do.

Except for one thing.

To say that I love you.——————R. W. Johnson—–(2003)

      Love In Bloom

She is sweet as a honeysuckle tree.

She is lovely as she can be.

Her kisses are rapture to me.

I’m in love, as you can see.

Her scent , sweeter than roses in bloom.

My heart sinks when she leaves the room.

Life without her is no life at all.

May she never hear the beaconed call.

Rainy Days

      Rainy Days

Rainy days. They are such a bore.

I don’t like them anymore.

People say they love the rain.

The sound eaises all their pain.

It is fine at the start.

But, after days, it’s a lark.

The constant pounding of the rain.

It’s enough to drive one insane.

The mud, the muck, the messiness.

The floods, the wrecks, the pettiness.

People mad as a wet hen.

Once wet, the temper wears thin.

We need the rain for flowers to bloom.

Rain helps spring to get here soon.

But, too much rain is not so good.

I would stop it if I could.

Praise the Lord for rainbows.

Once seen,  the rain usually goes.

A sign we won’t be destroyed by water.

Sent to us from a loving Father.

Yes, we need rain so we can live.

I hope your house don’t leak like a sieve.

When there’s a drought you’ll pray for rain.

Though right now it may sound lame.

Without rain we are in a hurt.

We would give all for a little squirt.

So take the extra rain with a smile.

Know it will be dry after awhile.

You may be bored while it rains.

But, you’re not sunburned & in pain.

Think positive & do your best.

God will take care of all the rest.————–R. W. Johnson—–(2012)

The Road Into The Unknown / He Knows

The Road Into The Unknown

We are all just travelers

on the road into the unknown.

We are aware of the architect of power.

Even though we know not where we are going.

The power will ripen the reactive void within you.

Like a womb accepting a seed.

Open yourself to what is unfamiliar to you.

So that the power, which is what you need,

can flow into you & make you whole.

You must become one with the power.

Let Him build, create, and mold

till there is no separating you from the power.

Then, you will be one

who will know we are all

on the road to Kingdom Come.—————-R. W. Johnson—–(2002)

He Knows

Yes, He knows

where broken dreams go.

Where heartaches & loneliness

rule the soul.

Where people cry

in agony,

to cast aside

their memories.

Where hope is just

a four letter word.

And misery is

all that is heard.

Yes, He knows.

But, still it’s true.

Because He knows,

there’s hope for you.—————-R. W. Johnson—–(2002)

Amazing Love / Ages Of Life

      Amazing Love

I never knew there could be such love.

It really blew my mind.

Now, I know I’ll always need your love.

You’ve been my greatest find.

I was down on myself the most.

You brought me into the light.

I was behaving like I was a ghost.

You showed me wrong from right.

I want to tell you just how I feel.

I want you right by my side.

I want to show you that my love is real.

I’m not just along for the ride.

A time may come when I slip away.

I never trusted myself.

But, I’ll come running back to stay.

I can’t give up my wealth.

You make me feel like a millionaire.

Although, I don’t have a dime.

I think , in time, I’ll be a zillionaire.

Because you are so fine.————————R. W. Johnson—–(2006)

      Ages Of Life

Age is like a flower growing.

Pushing upward & outward with a mighty will.

Age is like a river flowing.

Going faster, then slower till it’s still.

Age is like a tractor pulling.

It goes on & on with endless power.

Age is like a Mack truck rolling.

Hour after hour.

Age is like a faithful old dog

who, despite his age, when called, will come.

Age is like a white wispy fog

that fades away in the brightness of the morning sun.

The Gift

The Gift

Glowing in the darkness was the gift.

Like shadows glistening in the night.

Bedded down about the “old one” where he sits,

the entire herd was safe in the meager light.

At the first hint of smoke she sprang to action.

Pushing open the door, the horses ran to freedom.

Slowly, with dignity, the horses digging for traction,

She led them up the snowy hill to the “old one.”

The young horses were nervous & gave a whine.

But, calmed as the “old one” came into sight.

She moved up the hill to the safety of the pine

Where the “old one” rested with his wife.

She lay among the animals as one anointed

and gazed at the faces of the “old one” and his wife.

Those she loved she had not disappointed.

Her body, brittle,  with the years of her long life.

She was tired from the long climb and her years;

golden eyes filled with tears as she offered her gift.

Because of love, the couples eyes filled with joy & tears.

They shouted their praise and joy for the gift.

The gift of love and devotion until the end.

The bearer of the gift kneeled in praise.

The “old one” accepted the gift from his friend.

He said “May you always be wise in your ways.”

Loneliness / Opportunity

      Loneliness

What was it, someone said.

When you’re alone and in bed.

Do you lust for the one not there?

Is it almost more than you can bare?

Do you cry yourself to sleep?

Then dream those dreams of one so sweet?

In the morning, you’re bed’s a wreck.

But, you’re still alone, so what the heck!

So life goes, someone had said.

Loneliness is only in your head. —————R. W. Johnson—–(2005)

   Opportunity

It comes but once,

and when it does.

It’s come and gone

before it was.

All your life

you’re waiting for

a chance to grab it

at your door.

You’re never sure.

You never know.

It just might come

before you go.

But, if it comes

And you’re aware.

You won’t miss out.

You’ll know it’s there.

So go ahead

and take the plunge.

Take a chance

next time it comes.—————-R. W. Johnson—–(1988)

Bridge Over Muddy Water

Bridge Over Muddy Water

“Spring water———-Crystal clear.”

She heard him say whenever she was near.

To her it all seemed rather unclear.

One day she asked him to explain.

He said “Muddy water causes such pain.”

“Sometimes it can drive a person insane.”

When she heard this it was a shock.

She had never given it much thought.

But, as she thought, she began to plot.

There has to be a way around

this crystal clear spring water sound.

A bridge is the way she found.

A bridge of friendship kindled right.

Always keep the relationship tight.

The light at the end of the road is bright.

But, it’s easy to lose your way.

Into the cool water, you’ll want to play.

Whether at night, or even day.

Then the water turns muddy.

The relationship gets real cruddy.

You could end up with both all bloody.

Space Exploration

      Space Exploration

Sitting here thinking one afternoon.

Why do men want to go to the moon?

Is it the mystery of the big unknown?

That’s how space, the final frontier, is shown.

If man one day reaches the stars.

Will he find out who we really are?

Will he find from where we came?

Will there be others who look the same?

Chances are the answer is no.

The further into space we go

the more we will find  questions  unanswered.

The more questions that are answered

leads to more questions that then arise.

In the end we may be surprised.

The answers were here all along.

In simple form like they belong.

Look in the Bible and then believe.

Faith will then give you all you need.

The wonders of creation can boggle the mind.

But, the answers have been there all the time.

We can spend eternity exploring it all.

By  believing we have been saved from the fall.

God will give you a new heart & eternal life.

Then you’ll have eternity to see all the sights.

That is something worth striving for.

Is God knocking on your door??

If he is answer right away.

Then you will be on your way!!—————–R. W. Johnson—-(2012)

One Man Finds The Way

      One Man Finds The Way

Walking the streets on a cold dark night.

Avoiding the light. Not looking for a fight.

Thinking about the way things should have been.

Is this the way things are going to end?

I see the flash of a neon light.

It’s brilliant colors split the night.

I wonder how many others are led astray?

There has got to be a better way.

I hear a sound like nails scraping a wall.

A tree limb rubbing a building in the wind is all.

A dog growls, a cat squeals.

He runs with the dog on his heels.

When I was young I had big dreams.

The world is not what it seems.

It twists you and drags you down.

The older you get the more you frown.

It’s sick. It’s sinful. it’s hateful and foul.

The world has lost it’s way somehow.

So I walk through it’s carcass late at night

feeling dead inside. Too tired to fight.

No one can right all the wrongs.

It has gone on way too long.

Why must we live in such misery?

Such hopeless delusions and mystery?

I have searched for an answer.

A way to save me from this cancer.

There was nothing that wasn’t tainted.

It twisted my mind until I fainted.

I fell to my knees and cried out:

“Save me from this sin that’s all about.”

Suddenly, I heard a still quiet voice.

“I am always with you. It’s your choice”

I looked around. No one could be seen.

“What is this? Some kind of a dream?”

The voice said: “Look in the garbage can.”

I stayed there, though I almost ran.

Inside the can, on top of the trash,

was a Holy Bible someone had stashed.

“Pick it up. Take it home. Read it.”

The voice said with emphasis on “it.”

I did exactly what ‘the voice’ said.

Everything I read went straight to my head.

Soon I realized ‘the voice’ that was speaking

was Jesus Christ. I started weeping.

I fell on my knees & prayed for forgiveness.

I asked to be saved, as God is my witness.

A peace like no other came over me.

I knew the way to change the world, you see.

One man, called Jesus, could bring the change.

I’ll tell the world about His wonderful name.

I walk in the light now and show others the way.

This world WILL be made new in that great day.

Way Of The Wolf

      Way Of The Wolf

I saw her tracks there in the snow.

Into the woods, they did go.

I had been searching for an hour.

She was looking for a flower.

With the snow all flowers were gone.

Seeing her tracks, I followed on.

Up a slop and into the woods.

I sped  up as best I could.

It was getting close to dark.

This was not a walk in the park.

I worried about the wolves.

Other predators in the woods.

I was ready to call her name.

From the side, the two of them came.

A great wolf with my daughter.

Like a lamb led to the slaughter.

Her arm around his neck she stood.

Walking along as best she could.

She looked half asleep.

She was barely on her feet.

The wolf stopped & stared at me.

I stood still as I could be.

The wolf moved forward slowly.

He was walking right toward me.

He stopped and pulled his head out.

Then pushed her forward with his snout.

She looked up a & yelled “Daddy.”

Then she came running to me.

I caught her up into my arms.

She said “Doggie brought me to your arms.”

I said “Thank you!.” He whined & wagged his tail.

Then he turned & ran back up the trail.

She said “Where did he go?”

I said “I don’t know.”

As I looked toward the sky.

Tears were coming from my eyes.

“This much I’m sure I know.”

“Jesus was telling him where to go.”———-R. W. Johnson—–(2012)
