Baby Found Love

Baby Found Love

Baby found love.
She thought she never would.
But, now, she found she could.
He treats her sweeter than sweet.
For her,—- it is a real treat.

Baby found love.
She waited a very long time.
But, her man is real fine.
He would make any girl proud.
He is never obnoxious or loud.

Baby found love.
She was starting to think.
What was wrong? Did she stink?
Would she face things on her own?
Going through life all alone?

Baby found love.
She’s up on cloud nine.
For her,—-all is fine.
He doesn’t take her for granted.
Her heart’s on fire & he does fan it.

Baby found love.
Not in the usual place.
Not wearing satins & lace.
Not on line or an arranged date.
But, it was a friend. What a fate.

Baby found love.
From the one who was always there.
Always showing that he did care.
No matter how much she did wrong.
He would cheer her up with a song.

Baby found love.
It was always there.
Because, he always cared.
He loved her from day one.
He will love her till kingdom come.

Dreaming I Ruled the Land

Dreaming I Ruled The Land

It’s time. Something has got to be done.
I’m not talking of the wars we’ve won.
It would be different if I ruled the land.
No more ‘macho’ to prove you’re the man.
All would be content and having fun.
There would be enough for everyone.
All would feel peace and contentment.
You wouldn’t wonder what it all meant.
I’m not talking Socialism, or any such thing.
All would have what they could bring.
Messengers would be sent to all lands.
The message would spread like sifting sand.
Soon to cover every habitat of man.
All would preach it, when they can.
This is how it would be, if I ruled the land.
Love would be spread by every man.
People would work together, gladly.
Just to make things better. Sadly,
they would beg to do much more.
All would be welcome at their door.
Such changes take time to come about.
“Make it happen,” they would shout.
They would know I am doing all I can.
If I was the one that ruled the land.
Given time, all would be a paradise,
They would want it at any price.
Yet, it would be free to all people.
Be they healthy or be they feeble.
It would be actual reality.
All of the very best quality.
Spread to all, like shifting sand.
That is, if I actually ruled the land.

Overcoming Fear Of Others

Overcoming Fear Of Others

I was raised in a very isolated area.
I rarely saw people, other than family.
I was 21. Strangers caused hysteria.
I knew that it wasn’t very manly.
I was hunting one day far from home.
Just my dog and I. we went West.
I knew that we were all alone.
Then, we ran into a hornet’s nest.
I accidently stirred them up pretty bad.
I was running as fast as I could.
But, the hornets were pretty mad.
They stung me, even under my hood.
I stumbled and fell down a slope.
Knocked myself out against a tree.
I woke up to the smell of smoke.
My eyes were puffy. I could barely see.
A stranger, a girl, held smoke in her hand.
The smoking brand chased the hornets away.
She said “I’ll try to help you all I can.”
“You were stung many times, I must say.”
“Your dog led me to you.”
“I would have never seen you otherwise.”
“Good thing, the hornets still weren’t through.”
“I put salve on your stings. I apologize.”
“But, I know it helps with pain and swelling.”
I was petrified of her. But, she was pretty.
Very kind and gentle. Never yelling.
I finally thanked her. I was feeling giddy.
She asked where was my home?
I told her far to the East.
She said “This area is where I roam.”
“I live about 2 miles South, by the creek.”
I told her we were hunting & went too far.
“Come home with me till you feel better.”
My face went white. You could see my scar.
“What is the matter?” (Did I upset her?)
“I have just never been around people.”
She said “Do you live all alone then?”
“No, with family. That’s all I see though.”
“Are you married, or like other men?”
“just my parents & a brother. So, no.”
“I know what it’s like to live here. It’s hell.
“It is very desolate out here, I fear.”
“We won’t bite. We will treat you well.”
“Just my parents & I. No one else near.”
I tried to stand, but was very shaky.
I decided to take her up on her offer.
She had to pretty much take me.
Without her help, I would have faultered
Her mom fed me and said to wait.
The salve was already helping a bit.
Another hour or so is all it will take.
In a couple hours I was on my way.
I got home just before dark.
There wasn’t a lot I could say.
Except, I went West a lot. I was smart.

The Enemy Among Us

The Enemy Among Us

I look out upon the frosty land.
House roof and trees all white.
Along with the grass and sand.
My thoughts turn to the fight.

Our earth has been attacked.
By aliens for our mineral wealth.
We haven’t given up. We fight back.
Most of us are now in poor health.

We have returned to the rock age.
No modern comforts exist now.
But, our progress, we can gage.
There is a plan to tell us how.

The aliens can’t breathe our air.
They wear stuff to help with that.
Without their stuff, that they wear.
They would die, and that’s a fact.

We will eliminate their breathing gear.
We have a plan that will not fail.
It will work. We have nothing to fear.
They can’t order more through the mail.

We will burn the ship that has the stuff.
An inside job that will work for sure.
They enslaved some. They’re treated rough.
Yet, inside the ship, they will endure.

We have a way to contact them.
They will be supplied with what they need.
They will set fire to the breathing bins.
Make sure it cannot be easy to breathe.

With their equipment destroyed,
they will soon be in a real pickle.
The air,—- they must avoid.
They will be reduced to a trickle.

Those will leave or be overthrown.
Yes, they may return, given time.
By then, we will have things going.
We will be ready. Right down the line.

Words Of Advice

Words Of Advice

It will come back on you.
Like an onion in a Polish stew.
Acting like a PITA is not right.
It’s a good way to start a fight.
Treat others as they treat you.
Very nice, like they should do.
Acting out and carrying on.
Constantly, from dusk till dawn.
It’s enough to piss off the Pope.
For you, it leaves little hope.
A ‘sweet baby’ complex is much better.
Follow that to the very letter.
You will make friends and influence people.
Be sure to throw in a little wink though.
You are beautiful from head to toes.
Act likewise and see how it goes.
Life will improve, if not for you,
for others who are affected too.
Give it a try. You’ve nothing to lose.
But, much to gain, if you choose.————-R. W. Johnson—–(2016)

PITA = Pain In The Ass

In The Eye Of The Beholder

In The Eye Of The Beholder

I looked and right out my window
Was a reminder of all the love I could kindle.
The prettiest tree on the block.
It was everything that I am not.
It reminded me of all that you are.
The prettiest girl on the block by far.
Every beautiful thing I see around me
Reminds me of the beauty in you I see.
I don’t see myself in this class.
Yet, you see me as a beauty that lasts.
I will take it, and all that you give.
You’re a fountain of youth that helps me live.
I bathe in your beauty daily.
Soak it up like the sun soaks up all that’s shady.
The end result is that I am a better person.
For nothing from you could make me worsen.
Is that word?—- I really don’t care.
As long as you are with me everywhere.
They say beauty is only skin deep.
But, it is what’s inside that makes you so sweet.
You treat others like they were precious gold.
Something precious to have and to hold.
No wonder others think you are a real prize.
They envy me for our loving ties.
That is fine. Just don’t let it ever change.
Sometimes simple love is hard to explain.

Summer Fun

Summer Fun

Well, it’s a down town day.
A day when I feel more than o.k.
A day for whistling as I walk along.
Great days like this are too soon gone.

I have feel alive and energized.
For this, I am more than obliged.
Everything is turning up roses.
I can even tell where my toe is.

I see all the good around.
Flower smell is good, I’ve found.
Dogs, cats, and other pets.
Are lots of fun. They love us, I guess.

People picknicing in the park.
They stay there till nearly dark.
Kids are playing, having fun.
There is plenty of food for everyone.

Close to home, kids are wet.
The sprinkler is on and set.
Slippery slides are a blast.
Whoever was first could be last.

Things we can’t do in winter.
No one needs a hint here.
Summer fun is all around.
Summer fun is where I’m bound.

So, my summer advice for you.
Is get out there & have fun too.
Don’t give me a dirty glare.
Remember, love is in the air.

Finite Man

Finite Man

Lucinda was mine
Till the time
That I found her
Holding Finn.
Loving him.
Then you came along.
Loved me strong.
That’s what I thought.
Then, me and you,
That died too.
Don’t know that I will
But until
I can find me
A little girl who will stay,
And not play
Games behind me.
I will be what I am.
A finite man.
A finite man.
This poem can
Make you a better man.
Sounds like “Solitary Man.”
Do it, if you can.
No need for women to trample man.
When you can be a finite man.
Take things in hand.
Come on boy.
I know you can.

A Mysterious ‘Thing’

A Mysterious ‘Thing’

A friend came by the other day.
He had something important to say.
Said he had to show me what it was.
He couldn’t tell me,— just because.
I said: “o.k. Let’s go.” I was curious.
We headed out. This was mysterious.
Deep in the woods he stopped me.
“Take a look. What do you see?”
“I see trees, sky, grass, and bushes.”
“No, just to the left of where your foot is.”
I looked. It was a square of shiny bluish metal.
It looked like the square lid to a kettle.
“What is it?”, I asked as I bent down.
“I don’t know.”, he said with a frown.
I touched it, expecting it to be cool.
“It is the same temp as me or you.”
“That’s not all. Pick it up and see.”
I tried, but it was heavy as can be.
“Is it stuck in the ground?”
“I don’t think so.” As he looked around.
He handed me an entrenching tool.
“Dig it up. I will help you.”
We dug the dirt out from all around it.
Then, we dug out the dirt under it.
It just sat there. Floating in the air.
We tried to move it, to our despair
It wouldn’t move. It was locked in place.
All around it was just open space.
We looked at it real close on all sides.
I used the shovel and really pried.
It wouldn’t move. It wouldn’t scratch.
About 6 inches. All sides matched.
We tried heat to no effect.
We covered it, but it wouldn’t move yet.
We sprayed it with paint. it dripped off.
The heat didn’t make it turn soft.
We dug much deeper, but nothing was there.
We used a metal dector everywhere.
No metal registered. Nothing to be found.
There was no way to get it off the ground.
Neither heat or cold changed the temp.
It was not magnetic or radioactive.
It was totally inert. In no way active.
Impervious to drills, acid, or major blows.
It never moved or got a dent or a hole.
The next day we returned with help.
Our college science professor. He knelt.
He looked in the hole. “Is this some joke?”
There was nothing in the hole but smoke.
The ‘thing’ was gone. To where, we don’t know?
The professor was pissed & said he had to go.
We never saw ‘it’ again or found another.
But, I swear it’s true. I’m not lying, brother.

Heart to Heart

Heart To Heart

My nature is my soul.
This you must know.
There is contentment.
There is no resentment.
Just uplifting winds.
A serenity that descends
Listen to your own heart.
From it, never depart.
It’s a vision of loveliness.
Something to caress.
A beautiful flower.
More lovely by the hour.
So stop day dreaming.
Quails & doves are scheming.
Your nearness is like calm waters.
A feeling of sleeping otters.
Enjoying the setting sun.
Love radiates to everyone.
