The Desire Of Man

The Desire Of Man

Somewhere, deep in the heart of man.
Is the desire to do what he can.
To try to overcome his sinful nature.
To have God his care taker.
Total surrender is the only way to try.
With the Holy Spirit as your guide.
Nothing is impossible for God.
It is Him. Not you. That’s not odd.
Who can say they can save themselves?
Can’t be done. Even with the help of elves.
Fall at the foot of the cross.
Give it all to God at all cost.
Christ and God are one & the same.
Only difference is in the name.
If you’ve seen Christ, you’ve seen the Father.
Some have asked “Where is the daughter?”
It is doubtful gender makes a difference.
Be He a prince—– or a princes.
The Holy Spirit is an extension of Him.
The Holy Spirit can lead you from sin.
Lead you to total surrender.
The law of sin in the flesh can render
an action contrary to Christ.
It can be covered by His blood sacrifice.
His righteousness will cover your sinful nature.
Leaving you perfect. He took your place here.
What more can we ask at such a price?
To even think we deserve more isn’t nice.
Through His power, we can overcome.
Total surrender means we are one.
We become a new creature in Christ.
He is the one who paid the price.
We deserve all He was given.
Yet, He tells us we are forgiven.
I am unworthy to be in His presence.
His rightness protects me hence.
Oh, wretched thing that I am.
I only desire to be with Him.

Start All Over

Start All Over

Seems I’m surrounded by jokers and liars.
They believe T V, radio, & what’s on the wires.
The truth is out there, but it’s hard to find.
Look long enough & it can blow your mind.

This cacophony has become a way of life.
Constantly jostled, both me & my wife.
Told this ‘garbage’ here & that ‘bs’ there.
Is there no truth out there anywhere?

We have to start all over.
Start all over.
We must be much bolder.
Things can’t get much colder.
Start now, before we get older.
We have to start all over.
Start all over.

We have to search till we find truth.
Not talking about The Fountain Of Youth.
The truth of it all, without any lies.
We may find a ‘big’ surprise.

There is lies in almost everything.
This is the worst mess I’ve ever seen.
Get jerked right, then get jerked left.
It is all lies. My mind is set.

We have to start all over.
Start all over.
We must be much bolder.
Things can’t get much colder.
Start now, before we get older.
We have to start all over.
Start all over.

We found the truth. Praise the Lord.
All who want can come aboard.
We are headed for the promised land.
We found truth in His loving hand.

We can cut right through the lies.
The ‘truth’ has opened our eyes.
The ‘truth’ as it is in the Lord.
It exposes the lies of the hoard.

We got to start all over.
Start all over.
We are now much bolder.
Things will not get colder.
We accepted now, before we were older.
We got to start all over.
Start all over.

Grief—–God Is The Answer

Grief—-God Is The Answer

Like tears of glass, tinkling when they land,
these tears of grief are not so grand.
The pain that is left in my heart
Is worse than the pain of being apart.
Knowing I will never be with you again.
One is the loneliest #. How to begin?
To start over is a mountain too high.
All it does is make me want to cry.
I have to dream the impossible dream.
But, I only dream of you,—– it seems.
They say time heals all wounds.
Have they ever lost someone too soon?
All our future plans & dreams are gone.
Taken away with the morning dawn.
Taken when the angels came for you.
Now,—– whatever will I do?
All the songs of sorrow and loss
come slaming home. The feeling not lost.
Death leaves you nowhere to turn.
Take it to heart. Live and learn.
Faith in religious beliefs is the only hope.
Without it, I might as well cut my throat.
I know you are in a better place now.
No more suffering & pain creasing your brow.
I am hurting, but I will give it to the Lord.
No way am I joining the angry hoard.
Those who think all they have is here & now.
They might as well worship the golden cow.
There is no ‘real’ love found in that belief.
But, in the love of God I find relief.
I will keep the faith & be with you again.
My sweetheart, my lover, my friend.

Today Is The Day To Find The Way

Today Is The Day To Find The Way

Are you ready? Get your life in order.
It’s coming soon. Run for the border.
If you’re in love, make sure it’s strong.
The end is coming. It won’t be long.
All that can be shaken will be shaken.
There will be little giving, much taking.
Who do you trust with your life?
Make sure that that person is right.
Just hang on to what you’ve got.
They’ll try to take it, as likely as not.
Follow the one who has no gun.
He’ll keep you safe while on the run.
His power is from on high.
You can be sure, He won’t let you die.
I hope your loved ones are with you.
It’s their only chance of getting through.
They will hit you with their best shot.
But, do not worry. That’s all they got.
You’ll be safe in the hands of Him.
There is no way that they can win.
If you don’t agree with the signs of the times.
Just pray a little and see what comes to mind.
He is working to bring you in.
Get you to turn your back on sin.
Give Him a chance. That’s all it takes.
Why fool around and tempt the fates?

Decision Time

Decision Time

Sunrise. What will it bring?
More sad news & everything?
How much longer can it go on?
It will end before too long.

Sonrise. It is time for you.
Time to do the thing you do.
Work your magic & save.
Save all who follow The Way.

The comparison is not close.
One has little. The other the most.
Deception is the way of one.
Truth is the way the other is done.

One is black. The other is white.
One is darkness. The other is light.
One is the way to eternity.
The other can no longer be.

The choice is simple, you see.
Choose the sonrise to be free.
Or, choose the dusk & the dark.
Your end will be as a spark.

You will burn till all is consumed.
Better run. Get on your broom.
Even a witches brew can’t save you.
You will burn till you are threw.

The Two Poles

      The Two Poles

He set up two tall poles, a distance apart.

I said “What is this? A new type of art??”

He said “No, this will rate the winner.”

“Excuse me, did you say winter??”

“No, I said it will rate the winner.”

“I don’t get it. The winner of what?” He said “Don’t you feel it in your gut??”

“The winner of life, guts, and glory.”

“What are you talking about?? It sounds gory.”

“One pole is the center of all things.”

“The other one gives you wings.”

“You’re talking way over my head.”

“One is life. The other one, you’re dead.”

“I don’t think I’m following what you said.”

“All things end in death or life.”

“This will rate how you fought the fight.”

“Exactly how will it do that” I muttered.

“What? It’s as plain as day” he uttered.”

“This pole has a snake on top”

“All who look at it will live. It’s the rock.”

“The other pole is just a big stake.”

He said “To look at it is a mistake.”

He stated “Life is the race.”

“ At the end are the stakes”

“Now, does it make sense to you??”

I said “Yes, indeed it do.”———R. W. Johnson—–(2015)

Home At Last

      Home At Last

Sitting by the road of life

as the parade goes marching by.

He is carrying a load of strife

as he sits and wonders why?

The old man sits and wonders

where his life has gone.

Sure, he made a few blunders

as he lived his life, so long.

Happiness is not the final result.

It was often fun along the way.

He could have joined the revolt.

When they invited him to stay.

Dead and gone, they all are now.

He would be to if he had joined in.

He lived by the sweat of his brow.

He did his best to never sin.

But, now he has little to show

for his life of virtue & purity.

What he lacked, he didn’t know?

He knew he had little surety.

In his mind he had gone astray.

He didn’t know when it happened.

He didn’t know the answer anyway.

He just knew it was a crappy end.

He outlived all his family

Why,—- he hadn’t a clue.

It wasn’t because he was more manly.

But, he was really feeling blue.

Then, a voice spoke to him.

It was that small, quiet voice.

“I can set you free. Amen.”

“Turn to me. You have a choice.”

He fell on his face & praised the Lord.

“I am unworthy!!” he cried in agony.

“ I have for you a final reward.”

“Be at peace & let it be.”

The old man surrendered his will.

He gave all to the Lord as he was.

Then, he lay down & became very still.

The Lord had taken him to live above.

Faith Till The Very End

      Faith Till The Very End

There I was, sneaking through the woods.

Hiding out the best I could.

They seem to be everywhere.

Acting like they don’t have a care.

Yet, few true believers are left.

There is less every day, I’ll bet.

They have done all to snuff us out.

Were to blame, is what it’s about.

We must hide in the mountains and caves.

We are in prayer in every way every day.

The Lord provides our water and food.

Just like Elijah, despite his depressed mood.

We are all sealed in our minds.

We are waiting for that special time.

When we will see our Lord in the air.

People will witness it everywhere.

Just before killed off by his brightness.

We’ll be changed into His likeness.

Then, we will be heading to our real home.

Hi love reflected in our faces, shown.

But, for now, I hide and sneak around.

Hoping others, like me, can be found.

We can draw strength from one another.

Come together, my sisters and brothers.

Our Lord will be here soon, then we’ll say:

We have been waiting for this very day.

A Million To One

      A Million To One

I was fairly new in town.

I wasn’t much into fooling around.

I drove down town for food.

I was in a pretty good mood.

I stopped into the A & W stand.

I feel like a root beer, when I can.

A sweet little honey skated up to me.

The waitresses wore roller skates, you see.

I placed an order & she gave me a wink.

I was so surprised I couldn’t think.

When my order came, there was a note

It was her name & #. Call me, she wrote.

I just looked at it, I was in shock.

It just wasn’t happening to me,—- or not.

I waited a couple of days.

Then I called her, wondering what to say.

She was apologetic for being so bold.

“I have never done that before”, she told.

“It’s the first time it’s happened to me.”

“I just can’t believe that.” She said with glee.

I said “Now that introductions are made

would go out with me? Don’t be afraid.”

She said yes and that she wasn’t scared.

She just wanted me to know she cared.

We went to dinner & to a movie.

She was as snuggly as can be.

I dropped her off & kissed her goodbye.

Leaving, I thought, not bad. I didn’t even try.

After several more dates she was my girl.

When I’m with her I get a thrill.

All summer long we were together.

We had a blast. Her name was Heather.

We did everything you could think of.

My heart was higher than the clouds above.

By autumn, it became true love. What a game.

I’ve known other girls. It wasn’t the same.

We each had Senior year of high school to do.

I was sticking with her. I was no fool.

It was one of the best years of my life.

The fact we were going steady made it just right.

After graduation we were both off to college.

If she dated others, it was without my knowledge.

After college, we had to decide.

Were we together only for the ride?

If not, we had to make serious plans.

She became mine & I became her man.

Many years later I look back at all this.

Could there have been something I had missed?

Absolutely not!! I have what I wanted.

I am glad we pushed on, undaunted.

No Gamble At All

      No Gamble At All

It’s a toss of the coin. Yes or no.

Which way will you go?

It is sweeter than you’ll ever be.

On this point, we can both agree.

Drop the coin into the slot.

Take the ticket. Do it, or not.

If the ticket says “Go for it!”,

you will have to bite the bit.

Knuckle down and give it a try.

It may bring a sparkle to your eye.

I’m waiting for the answer,  by and by.

When the time has finally arrived,

will you do it and remain alive?

It is something we all want to do.

Even someone as stubborn as you.

There really is no gamble at all.

But, it must be done before the fall.

Many others have found the path.

Do not worship a golden calf.

Do what your heart is telling you.

Become a brother and/or sister too.

In the end it’s a matter of choice.

Just listen to that still, small voice.

You’ll be welcomed with open arms.

Just bring it, with all your charms.
