God Works In Mysterious Ways

      God Works In Mysterious Ways

It was in the evening when I got to town.

The local watering hole was having a big ‘ho down.’

Cars were parked up and down the street.

Looked like a good place to find someone to meet.

The place was packed. No cover charge.

Lots of rednecks were up at the bar.

Several guys & girls were out on the floor.

Dancing to a live band and they wanted more.

They were whooping , hollering, & carrying on.

Dancing up a storm as the band played on.

There was one empty table over on the right.

Vacated after others were thrown out for a fight.

I told the waitress I was a peaceful man.

I avoid trouble every way that I can.

She smiled and went to get me my drink.

As she smiled I gave her a wink.

I looked around at all the others.

Seemed all the gals were with another.

I knew if I tried to horn in,

that would be when trouble would begin.

What I told the waitress, I said right. I was not looking for any fight.

Soon she returned with my drink in hand .

I said keep them coming as best you can.

I slipped her an extra large tip.

She smiled with a quiver in her lip.

Later, as she came by, she would say “Hi.”

Quickly, I caught that look in her eye.

So, I asked her when she got off.

“Right after closing time I’ll be off.”

She asked why I wanted to know?

“Coffee & food sounds good, you want to go?”

“You bet. I can hardly wait.”

Just like that I had a date.

The evening dragged on. The music was good.

The waitress treated me like she should.

Finally, the band played their last number.

People were leaving. Heading home to slumber.

The waitress came with purse in hand.

“I’ll ride with you. I usually ride with the band.”

We went to an all night coffee shop.

Got in a booth and we sat and talked.

She said her name was Candy.

I said “Super. my name is Andy.”

“The band watches out for me when they can.”

“I told them you were safe,  a peaceful man”

I laughed at that as we talked over coffee.

Then we ordered breakfast to go with the coffee.

She said she only worked on weekends.

Sometimes on holidays.—- It depends.

Most of her time she is in school.

Studying to be a Archeologist too.

I couldn’t believe what I had just heard.

The coincidence was really weird.

I had just become an Archeologist myself.

Religious Archeology was my stealth.

She was as surprised as was I.

”I couldn’t have picked a better guy.”

It seemed she was interested in religious artifacts.

“Right out of high school”, she said “That’s where it’s at.”

We spent the rest of the evening together.

I asked to see her more. She said ”In any weather.”

She finishes school this summer.

That’s when I’m leaving for a dig. What a bummer.

That is, unless she comes along.

I mean, a meeting like this can’t be wrong.

It wasn’t long & we were digging up something good.

We hadn’t left town yet, but we knew we would.

We were married before we left for the dig.

We went on our honeymoon in my old rig.

We wanted to make a great discovery.

Regardless of the work for the recovery.

If we did or didn’t could take time.

But, we both knew we already made our greatest find.

That was finding each other the way we did.

We’re sure God was leading. Praise what He did.

Boy In A Bubble

      Boy In A Bubble

Now Bobby was a smart little kid.

He never got in trouble.

That’s because he spent his life

stuck inside a bubble.

He had a deficiency with his immune system

that left him defenseless .

He could catch almost any disease

leaving him dead or  senseless.

He wondered what it would be like

if he could leave his bubble.

He knew it would probably be death.

He hoped that wouldn’t make trouble.

He felt funny one day & got all worried.

The Dr told him he was only going through puberty.

The Dr. explained it all to him.

Bobby wondered what good it was to be in puberty

trapped in a bubble like he was.

He couldn’t meet a girl

Even if his face did have fuzz.

Then, one day, a girl walked by.

She seemed to be about his age.

She was in the hospital for medical treatment.

She came back to watch as Bobby played.

They got acquainted by talking through the bubble.

She was there for something opposite of him.

One day he came out of the bubble just to be with her.

The Dr’s were shocked when they found them.

After much tests they both seemed to be cured.

After many more tests, a miracle they did find.

It seems they cured each other.

As long as they stayed together both would be fine.

This made Bobby happy. It made her happy too.

They were destined to be with one another.

A greater gift  could not be found by me or you.

She became much closer than a brother.

They became each other’s soul mates.

Then, when they were old enough, they were married.

God was a major part of their lives.

All their worries & fears He carried.

So ends the story of the boy in the bubble.

Who prayed for help from God

Such a good boy who never got in trouble

His prayers were answered in a way that was odd.

Something Worth Looking Forward to.

   Something Worth Looking Forward To

Life is good when you’re feeling no pain.

You’re not sick, blind, deaf, or lame.

You have energy. You feel great!!

You’re not underweight nor overweight.

Just look around at life in general.

You are blessed way beyond the minimal.

Look at the colors in nature all around.

look at all the pretty flowers that can be found.

Look at nature’s bountiful life everywhere.

Animals abounds in the sea, land & air.

The beautiful ground fauna overflows.

The water in lakes, rivers, & waterfalls.

The beautiful oceans raging & rolling.

The rain that falls to keep things growing.

The forests & trees, the buzzing bees.

All were made for you and me.

By the creator God who made it very good.

He wanted to make it perfect, like He should.

Only one thing prevented it being so.

Sin entered and spoiled the perfect show.

But, in the end, God will make it new again.

This time perfect with no trace of sin.

On The Road Again

      On The Road Again

Moving along the road of life.

I have seen heartache and strife.

Should I march along and try to hide,

Or hold my head  up with dignity and pride?

Deep within beats a heart of gold.

It is corroded and gotten old & cold.

This life doesn’t give back what you give.

In most cases, your heart will leak like a sieve.

The turnabouts and bumpy roads

will jar you into a ‘turnoff’ mode.

There is no super smooth freeway of life.

No matter how good there is always strife.

Follow the road you made where it sends.

With luck, there will be no dead ends.

Make the most of what you’ve got.

Don’t just bury it all to rot.

What you do affects others too.

They all want to be close to you.

Though times are rough, there is always hope.

You must be as stubborn as a billy goat.

Never give in to defeat and depression.

Always try to make a good impression.

Others will start responding the same.

Soon, you will be playing a whole new game.

Give praise to God as the only one.

You’ll be on the road to kingdom come.

Go Tell It In The Valley

Go Tell It In The Valley

We met in the valley far below.

It was as far as I could go.

I wished to see you once again.

To me you were much more than a friend.

You came to the mountain high above.

You came just to see your love.

Music played & the trees kept time.

Then I knew that you were mine.

From the valley far below

came the one to whom I bestow

all the powers that are mine.

May you stay till the end of time.

I left the mountain only once.

I met you as I ate my lunch.

I was guided to your side

by this power that is deep inside.

You were attracted immediately.

Like I was all that you could see.

We only had a short time together.

It was long enough, it couldn’t get better.

You came to the mountain high above.

You came just to see your love.

Music played and the trees kept time.

Then I knew that you were mine.

From the valley far below

came the one to whom I bestow

all the powers that are mine.

May you stay till the end of time.

The mountain is a place of sacred power.

A place to worship in the early hours.

A mighty gift has been given to me.

I share it with you & set you free.

The two of us become as one.

We strive together till day is done.

We work toward that special day.

When we will go forth, as we pray. ———–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

The “Real” Exorcist

The ‘Real’ Exorcist

Are you an exorcist?

Yes, I work at the gym.

I teach classes on exercise.

No, I mean one who ousts sin.

Sin in the form of demon possession.

Are you kidding me??

I have never held such a session.

That’s odd. I was referred to thee.

The local pastor said you were the best.

He said you really knew your stuff.

Is his last name Hess?

He is in my exercise class, he puffed.

I think you were confused by his answer.

He thought you were talking about exercise.

I have to get rid of a demon like a cancer.

I don’t need to be doing any exercising.

What exactly does this demon do?

Have you seen “The Exorcist”, then you know.

What!! That kind of stuff is happening to you?

That & a lot more you don’t wanna know.

He picks me up. He lays me down.

He does other things like bend my back.

My golden hair lies on the ground.

I am surprised my neck or back doesn’t crack.

This sounds insane. Have you tried psych help?

Sometimes imagined things can seem real.

How about prayer? Have you asked as you knelt?

I have done it all. They all give the same spiel.

Has anyone witnessed these episodes?

Of course they have. They are scared.

They even filmed it in a slower mode.

It is almost more than they can bare.

Does it only happen at night?

Mostly when I am asleep.

That must really make you uptight.

I would rather be counting sheep.

Have you thought of changing the channel?

What do you mean? Is that a joke?

No, go to sleep with the power of Emmanuel.

Pray He will protect you like other folk.

I haven’t tried that. I think I will.

I hope it works for you.

With God’s armor, it surely will.

I’ll surrender to Him. I’m no fool.

Did it work? I don’t know the answer.

All I know is God can overcome all.

Be it sin or be it sickness like cancer.

Just trust & have faith. Answer His call.—–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

The Light

       The Light

The beautiful city by the bay.

A great place to visit, they say.

So I hopped on a ferry & went to see.

Just how lovely this city could be.

It was beautiful. Lots going on.

Entertainment from dusk till dawn.

Lots of lovely sights to see.

I just wish you were with me.

Suddenly, in a blinding flash.

I was witness to all the trash.

Murder, robbery, rape, & lust.

Lots of violence. No one to trust.

Then, a blinding light all around.

Reaching from Coit Tower to Chinatown.

I shaded my eyes. It was so bright.

It was quite a scary sight.

I strained my ears trying to hear.

Hear any sound that was clear.

Only one word, spoken loud.

It was heard by all the crowd.

REPENT!!

I dropped to my knees & confessed all sins.

I only knew, any who did wins.

Many cussed and shook their fists.

They weren’t having any of this.

Soon, all returned to normal.

People looked around, then became real formal.

They acted as if nothing had happened.

They continued on, just as it had been.

Yes, the city by the bay is a delight.

Especially when seen in a different light.

It changed me for the rest of my life.

For many others it only added to their strife.

She’s Come Undone

       She’s Come Undone

Can you believe what she has done?

I loved her more than anyone.

Yet, she tried to reach the sun.

Now, —-she’s come undone.

She bought a one way ticket to memories past.

No one knows how long this will last.

For her, reality has slipped away.

I pray it will return again someday.

What was it she was searching for?

It was probably right here at her door.

She went too far. She touched the sun.

She’s come undone!!

She had this problem using drugs.

Psychedelic type, supplied by thugs.

She was trying more than to just get high.

She wanted to soar into the sky.

There wasn’t enough here for her.

She had enough love. That’s for sure.

Yet, not the answers she was seeking.

I’m not sure what she was thinking.

She bought a one way ticket to memories past.

No one knows how long this will last.

For her, reality has slipped away.

I pray it will return again someday.

What was it she was searching for?

It was probably right here at her door.

She went too far. She touched the sun.

She’s come undone!!

I look in her eyes. She isn’t there.

Wherever she is, I hope they care.

She searched for truth but, she went astray.

What she found was not a better way.

I pray to God she is led to Him.

He will guide her from this sin.

He is the truth, the way, and life.

Her search will end without any strife.

Day Trippin, Or Prophecy?

       Day Tripping Or Prophecy??

If you hear a step upon your star tonight.

See a light not much brighter than a candlelight.

It’s not your imagination leading you astray.

It’s only me. Talk for awhile, before I slip away.

I have fought my way through fairy dust.

Followed a rainbow till it turned to rust.

Traveled beyond the imagination of man.

Just to talk with you while I can.

I love how the colors dance on your dress.

Your beauty leaves poets trying to guess

what to say to capture it in words.

You’re more beautiful than exotic birds.

You have been with us throughout time.

Every man has wished ‘you were mine.’

Your wisdom stretches to infinity.

Then back again as you check on me.

I have blundered in many ways.

Yet, you never let me stray.

Tell me what you have in mind?

Asks a humble servant from one so kind.

The answer will come as I travel the road.

I feel as  unworthy as a horny toad.

Your thoughts  are so beyond my own.

I can only lie here and moan.

The knowledge has been put in my head.

It’s like magic, all that you’ve said.

I will go forward with your words.

Tell everyone what I’ve heard.

Others will find their way to you.

Then you can tell them what to do.

Before long, all will know the way.

Take us all  to your place to stay.————–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

Love Is A Scam?

        Love Is A Scam?

Long ago there was a man

who thought love was just a scam.

Who needs love to survive?

I don’t need love to chuck & jive.

I can go and do it all.

Love will only make me fall.

His beliefs became so extreme.

He didn’t care about anything.

He didn’t care if babies died.

His mother died & he didn’t cry.

People asked him what was wrong?

He said love’s a scam. It won’t take long

for all the emotions to come on strong.

Just ignore all of loves mistakes.

Don’t get sucked in is all it takes.

People dying is part of life.

Never let it bring you strife.

So your ‘lover’ breaks up with you.

There is nothing he can do.

If you’re not sucked into the scam.

You can walk away like a man.

Love triggers many accompanying feelings.

Often these can leave you reeling.

Live a life almost stress free.

If you’ll only do like me.

Then, one day, he was hit by a car.

It was life or death with a lot of scars.

He started feeling really scared.

Should he voice it, if he dared.

Then he told a really understanding nurse.

She gave him comfort. She didn’t curse.

She read the Bible to him when she had time.

After a few verses he saw his crime.

God was love, as pure as it can be.

It was no scam, he could now see.

If you love another it’s just like God.

Spreading love around is in no way odd.

He left the hospital a different man.

He said I will do all I can

to spread love to all in every way.

He is still doing that today.

He is the pastor of our local church.

He loves all who come to church.

He would never turn anyone away.

He says love is the only way.——————R. W. Johnson—–(2014)
