The Answer To Stress

      The Answer To Stress

I can’t handle anymore stress at the job.

Some say that sounds a little odd.

Why is that, I heard myself say?

Stress isn’t uncommon at job or play.

You are a Christian. Give it to God.

I have tried. Does that sound odd?

It is affecting my health and life.

I am having trouble handling the strife.

Is your faith in God getting less?

Trust in Him and He will bless.

He will open other doors.

From heaven the blessings will pour.

When you think you’re down and out.

He’ll be there to pull you out.

Trouble & strife will make us stronger.

Keep faith in Him a little longer.

We will learn through it all.

There is nothing that may befall

that can separate us from His love.

Love that comes from God above.

You are His precious child.

He will protect you all the while.

As the storm rages all around us.

His love is there to surround us.

If we are faithful & not lose trust,

He will give the best to us.

We will soar like eagles on high.

Way up in a cloudless sky.

Nothing will bother us or bring us down.

Never a need to wear a frown.

Each and every day keep Him near.

With His shoulder to lean on, there is no fear.

Why Life Isn’t Fair

      Why Life Isn’t Fair.

Have you heard the statement  that life isn’t fair.

When it comes to hard knocks, we’ve all had our share.

Nothing ever seems to go right.

There is never an end in sight.

Have you ever wondered why?

Why life can often lead you to cry?

Didn’t you know there is a war going on.

It will be going on after were gone.

It is the war between good and evil.

We can’t escape it wherever we go.

The war between Christ and Satan.

Earth is the battleground where it was taken.

It started in heaven long ago.

Satan was cast out to earth, you know.

All that has happened here since.

Is a result of Satan’s pretence.

That God rules with an iron hand.

No free will if you’re in His band.

Humans are only a pawn in this game.

Let’s make that real plain.

We have freedom of will.

We can choose to love or kill.

Choose God and you will love.

Choose Satan and you’ll kill the dove.

There is no sitting on the fence.

Refusing to choose is no defense.

This battle will not last forever.

Probation closes for all, no matter how clever.

The Lord will come in all His glory.

With the host of heaven; so goes the story.

Satan will be cast into a bottomless pit.

That will put an end to it.

Till he and all his followers are judged.

Then cast into a lake of fire like thugs.

They will burn till totally consumed.

Leaving nothing to be exhumed.

The answer to who is right in this terrible war.

Will be answered here on earth, and more.

So bad will things end up that none will doubt.

That God is just, and love is what He is about.

Satan will lose in the end.

I hope you are not his friend.——————R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

Turned Around By God

      Turned Around By God

I heard a rustling in the dirty alley.

Then I heard a desperate groan.

I decided to look, knowing this was folly.

The Lord impressed me to check out the moan.

There in the filth, urine, and waste

lye a long haired ‘hippy type’ in tattered clothes.

He smelled strong of alcohol & body waste.

The smell of a hash pipe hit my nose.

I knelt down and he looked around.

His pupils were pin point, though in the shade.

I knew more than alcohol & mj.  could be found.

He  smelled like hammered pig poop in a glade.

You look like life has kicked you around some.

You look about as low as you can go.

You look like you’re ready for the ground, son.

You don’t see anywhere else to go.

Let me say there is a new man in town.

He has the power to set you free.

Just sit up and look around.

This is not the life for you or me.

His name is Jesus and He is your friend.

You say what would He want with you?

There are many others who are where you’ve been.

Through you, Jesus can set them free too.

Let me help you to go where there is help.

Later, after a bath , shave, haircut, & clothes.

The young man looked like a fine young whelp

He thanked me and as he rose

I said dinner is very soon. Stay and have a bite.

He did & he ate like there was no tomorrow.

We prayed over the meal & he didn’t feel right.

I said Jesus can take away all pain and sorrow.

He wanted to know how that could be?

During a Bible study, I learned he was Carl.

Many answers were given to him, you see.

Soon, he was moved by the Holy Spirit.

He realized he really could be free.

He gave his heart to God. Let’s hear it.

Praise the Lord!! He now had a job to do.

He went back to the alleys & byways of the city.

He preached to others. He was like them too.

Now he was free. No more sorrow or pity.

By the power of Christ, he converted many.

His joy in life was seeing others saved.

Believe me, his reward will be plenty.

His greatest love was Jesus, he raved.

In The Nick Of Time

      In The Nick Of Time

I remember the day he saved my life.

It was filled with heartache and strife.

I was truly thinking of checking out.

I picked a time when no one was about.

Then, there was a knock on the door.

It was a coleporter selling books & more.

He talked about how the Bible gave us hope.

About how we can get help to cope.

What he said made sense to me.

I asked the man to pray with me.

He did & I felt a weight being lifted off.

I know all of this made the Devil wroth.

I bought a book called “Steps To Christ.”

I read it and it changed my life.

I knelt & gave it all to the Lord.

Life was exciting. No longer bored.

I called the coleporter & bought more books.

I read them all. I also read the Bible book.

I was changed. I was alive.

I told others about it. I didn’t hide.

I went to church . I made new friends.

I talk to everyone that God sends.

Many have followed my example.

My testimony, I guess, was ample.

Things are great. Things are good.

I put God first, just like I should.

Occasionally, trouble still comes my way.

I pray to God and it all goes away.

I’ll take this life over what I had before.

With God in my life I have so much more..

I have that coleporter to thank.

He is the best. On that you can bank.

He saved me from checking out.

But, really, it was God, without a doubt.—–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

The Soldier

The Soldier

A  snow storm was raging outside the cabin.

She heard something like scraping at the door.

She did not want to let something bad in.

Yet, she knew, she could do no more.

She opened the door and a man fell in.

It was a soldier, covered with snow & ice.

He said “I could have been enemy then.”

She said “No, cause you knocked nice.”

Puzzled, He got up & brushed off the snow.

He was a soldier, trained from the womb.

War and killing was his only goal.

“I am here to protect you from the enemy doom.”

“Are you living here alone?,” he shivered.

“Yes,” she said. “My husband died long ago.”

“This war could last the rest of winter.”

“I may be here that long before I go.”

“You are welcome to stay. Do you need food?”

“I haven’t eaten in a day or so.”

She busied herself preparing some food.

He barred the door. No one would go.

“Why do you live way out here all alone?”

“My husband was a trapper. I stayed on.”

“He was killed in an avalanche.”

“I stayed  here after he was gone.”

“How do you live in this circumstance?”

“I trap too. Sell the furs in the fall.”

“It gets lonely at times, but I love it here.”

Then they heard a noise outside. A call.

They both knew the enemy was near.

A bang on the door & the soldier fired .

They heard a thump on the door outside.

A moan was heard like someone was tired.

The woman went to look outside.

The soldier said “NO.” He indicated silence.

No other sound was heard outside.

The woman opened the door in defiance.

An enemy soldier laid there wounded.

The woman grabbed him & drug him in.

The soldier went to shoot him

The woman stopped him. “This is sin.”

“I am a soldier. it is my duty.”

“He is wounded. I will help him.”

“You cannot aide the enemy.” he said.

“I will help anyone hurt in my home.”

The soldier went to sit on the bed.

She dressed his wounds then he moaned.

“Why are you helping me?” he said.

“We are all equal under God” she stated.

“Love your enemy as yourself.”

Both soldiers were shocked at such statements.

She lifted the wounded soldier into bed herself.

The soldier kept fading in & out of consciousness.

the other soldier said “I think he’s dying.”

She said “He stopped bleeding. He was found with this.”

She held up a cross on a chain. She was crying.

“I don’t understand. What’s that mean?”

She explained the cross and what it meant.

“ I have never heard this. It could cause a scene.”

“If soldiers followed such rules, they would recant.”

“Their pledge to be a soldier would be useless.”

“Listen to the Holy Spirit as it speaks to you”

The soldier squirmed. His cause felt fruitless.

In a few days the wounded soldier died.

Before dying, he asked for forgiveness from God.

The soldier was shocked. “What?”, he cried.

She said “He made peace with his God”

They buried him with rocks and snow.

The woman said a prayer over him.

The soldier was confused. He wanted to know.

She explained the principle of sin.

For a few months she gave him Bible lessons.

He rebelled at first, then something happened.

As the Holy Spirit convicted his heart during sessions,

he began to see the truth. And he confessed bad sins.

He knelt and asked for forgiveness.

He was converted. Jesus was his Lord now.

“What will you do now?” she asked with firmness.

“I will resign my position & follow the Lord somehow.”

As he left in the spring, he said “I will see you again soon.”

In the fall he returned to her.

He took her in his arms & her heart swooned.

He was a new soldier now. That was sure.

A soldier in God’s army saving souls

He would fight side by side with her.

God and her, wherever he goes.

More Than It Seemed

      More Than It Seemed

My life was making the rounds

of the honky tonks And bars.

There was no where I was bound.

Each place left many scars.

Some for all to see.

Others on the heart.

There was nothing there for me.

My life was literally falling apart.

Then I met a living walking dream.

My life took a different turn.

Not in the honky tonks, it seems.

But, in a in a library with book worms.

We whispered back & forth.

Then, I asked her out for coffee.

She said yes, was her retort.

It was odd. I felt so sloppy.

We had coffee & talked.

Her life was as lonely as mine.

I was so glad she hadn’t balked.

When I told her I had a good time.

I asked to see her again.

To my surprise she agreed.

Something good was about to begin.

Was I ever lucky to plant this seed.

With her looks, I didn’t see

how she could ever be lonely.

But, it seems she was just like me.

Except that she wasn’t homely.

Time passes like it always does.

We kept dating once a week or more.

No honky tonks or bars because

I wanted her to see so much more.

She was a teacher in grade school.

I was a carpenter full time.

She was interested in what I do.

I was only thinking I wish she was mine.

We had many interests in common.

There was so much to share with her.

she introduced me to her mama & kin.

Where my family was, I wasn’t sure.

One day, listening to the radio.

We heard a religious show.

We both said maybe we should go.

There was so much we didn’t know.

To make a long story shorter now.

We ended up being baptized there.

Then we exchanged wedding vows.

We became members. Now God we share.

Our life has become a threesome.

We may become four before too long.

For now it’s her & I & God is the third one.

Life has become a happy song.

Funny how life changed from honky tonks & bars.

To paradise every day of my life.

No longer does loneliness scar.

Because I have God and my wife.————-R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

Nightmare Or Vision?

      Nightmare Or Vision?

10,000 maniacs were screaming my name.

I think I might be going insane.

I took a walk on the wild side.

While there I almost died.

You’ve heard of the 7 levels of hell?

Well, let me verbalize & ring your bell.

There may even be a level # 8.

Designed especially for your fate.

All those things you’ve buried deep.

Kept in the dark afraid to seek.

Pigeon holed deep in your mind.

Buried, you hoped, till the end of time.

Locked up tight in the dark recesses of the id.

Only emerging in nightmares when a kid.

If those nightmares return as an adult.

The fabric of your sanity may melt.

The most atrocious offensive things.

Sit in wait to emerge & cause pain.

You’ll run, you’ll scream, you’ll flip your lid.

You’ll be more frightened than when a kid.

Never think you can tempt your fate.

Demons will act. They will not wait.

They will drag you down to the 8th level of hell.

There you will remain to scream and yell.

You may be locked up in a rubber room.

But, your mind tells you ‘IT’ is coming soon.

Tranquilizers just make it like you’re in a fog.

Makes you feel like you’re stuck in a bog.

Demons screaming, the smoke, the fire.

All of them yelling that you’re a liar.

There is no escape as indescribable things appear.

You rip your face and skin in fear.

You’re screaming “let me out” “let me die.”

You feel like ripping out your eyes.

There is no escape. You know this is final.

Judgment has closed. You know why though.

Back when you had the choice.

You didn’t even use your voice.

You turned your back on the only salvation.

You could not resist temptation.

Oh, that you only understood.

You can do nothing that is good.

But, He can , and will for you.

All it takes is to ask Him to.

I made it back when I woke up screaming .

It wasn’t true, I was only dreaming.

But, it sure woke me out of my slumber.

I fell to my knees & prayed like thunder.

Loud and long for God above

to keep me safe in His arms of love———–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

Only One Way

      Only One Way

What’s the proper thing to say

when a friend or relative hurts you?

Speaking verbally, it’s not okay.

The pain still hurts through & through.

It hurts because you love them so.

You really don’t want to let them go.

Saying something hurtful to get back

is a defense mechanism. It’s a fact.

To remedy the situation takes strength.

Regardless of what you think.

Swallow your pride for a start.

It is better than being apart.

Apologize, though your heart says no.

There is nowhere else you can go.

You don’t feel you are to blame.

Yet, it is driving you insane.

Words hurt when aimed at you

from a loved one that you knew.

Erase the past and start anew.

It is best for both of you.

Turn it all over to God.

Let Him be the judge. It’s not odd.

He is MUCH wiser than us.

He will leave little to discuss.

He functions on love, so get on board.

Then all will vanish, except for the Lord.—–R. W. Johnson—–(2014)

Troubling Days Ahead

      Troubling Days Ahead

There was blood on the leaves.

A body hanging in a white oak tree.

No one around that I could see.

Is this the fate for you and me?

Things are changing in this world.

I watched as my coffee swirled.

Will we be safe another day?

Always watching what we say.

Sabbath keepers should be put to death.

Hang them or stone them, like the rest.

To be safe, we must always hide.

Be meek & mild. Swallow our pride.

God’s end time tragedies keep on coming.

The people are serious. They’re not funning.

Sabbath keepers are the reason why.

To stop the tragedies they must die.

God’s people are hiding in caves.

Or, in jail—– treated like slaves.

Your very own neighbor may turn you in.

Yelling “Your Sabbath keeping is a major sin.”

They sigh and cry for God night and day.

“Save us. Take this nightmare away.”

God has withdrawn all contact from them.

They must stand on their faith & not sin.

Then, when it seems the end is here.

The sky turns bright. God is near.

He saves his people from certain death.

His brightness kills off all the rest.

Is this a dream or a prediction?

I guess it depends on your conviction.

The end time days will not be nice.

Get yourself saved or pay the price.

Waiting

      Waiting

Will I see you coming in the air tonight, oh Lord?

I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life, oh Lord.

Are you coming in the air tonight , oh Lord?

I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life, oh Lord.

I remember—- when I first met you.

My mom would take me to Sabbath school.

I learned all about your life and times.

I read all the books I could find.

I studied the Bible through & through.

I wanted to learn all I could about you.

The day came when I was baptized.

My life was yours from then on I realized.

Will I see you coming in the air tonight, oh Lord?

I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life, oh Lord.

Are you coming in the air tonight, oh Lord?

I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life, oh Lord.

In December—-I suffered a great loss.

My wife died while still holding her cross.

Cancer took her as she rested in peace.

I know you took her Lord to give her relief.

It was hard, but you were at my side.

I gave it all to you & swallowed my pride.

I have been sustained by your gracious love.

Sent to me from where you are above.

Will I see you coming in the air tonight, oh Lord?

I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life , oh Lord.

Are you coming in the air tonight, oh Lord?

I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life, oh Lord.

Do surrender,—– we are near the end.

Every prophecy has been fulfilled herein.

Believers are living by faith alone.

That our Lord will save us & take us home.

I review every moment of my life.

Searching for unconfessed sins with strife.

I have faith my sins are all forgiven.

Now, all I want is to be in heaven with Him.
